Hi Girls..I was just married and am having a hard time deciding on whether or not to change my last name to my husbands...or keep my maiden name and add my marred name (sort of like hyphenating it)
Does anyone have a soultion or has been thinking aboutthe same thing. I feel like I do not want to lose my own identity for sentimental reasons...but I want to embrace my new husband too..

Re: Name change after wedding
I'm hyphenating for a couple of reasons. My occupation really requires name recognition. If I changed my name entirely, it would almost be like starting all over again
I'm the last person with my last name (aside from my father). It's me. I don't want to lose it entirely. I'm starting a new chapter of my life with FH, but that doesn't mean that I have to discard my old one

Re: Name change after wedding
you will need to bring your marriage certificate so no, it has to be after the wedding. they say to do your social security card first before your license. thats my to do list tomorrow! the forms you can print online though!

Re: Name change after wedding
my friend dropped her middle name and changed it to her maiden name, then took her husbands last name. That way its sort of like hers is hyphenated, but her kids' last names won't be.

I thought about this a lot too! I decided to take his name because I want to have the same name as my children
