Re: Name changing
Taking FH's last name for all purposes except for professionally. I've already established my career with my (much easier to pronounce and much shorter) maiden name, and my licenses and degrees have my maiden name. But my paychecks will have my married name for SS purposes and I want to have the same last name as my husband and children, when I have them.

Re: Name changing
I am thinking of making my last name my middle name and dropping the current one...and then take FH's last name. My problem is...FH is divorced. The ex-wife got to keep his last name in the divorce...because they had a child (this way mother and child have the same last name). She has done nothing but try to make our lives hell...I don't want the same name as HER

Re: Name changing
I took my hubby's name. It was REALLY important to him. He wants our whole family to have the same name.

Re: Name changing
Hypenating. I went back and forth on it for a long while. I really like all of my name, but I wanted the same name as my kids. I don't even know if I'm changing my name legally - I might just use his name for kid stuff. But for work and for almost all aspects of my life, I'm using my name.
FI not only doesn't care it I change it, but he actually doesn't want me to change it. He doesn't care either way, but he was like 'If it's gonna cause you to be upset, don't do it. Anyway, you're not my appendage.' I love him so much!

Re: Name changing
If it wasn't for business I could care less. It's taking me a few years to establish my name out there to all my customers/clients.
My fiance' wants me to take is name totally and drop my maiden name. I'm all for it except can I keep the maiden hypened on busines cards, email & anything related to my business?

Re: Name changing
I just recently found out that using your maiden name as your middle name isn't the norm. It's what my grandmother did, as well as my mother and all of my sisters. That's what I'll be doing too - I love my maiden name, it's a part of who I am, I am also looking forward to taking FH's name
....and laughing at all the pronunciations I'm bound to hear
afterthought - I'll actaully be keeping my middle name too, I'll just have 4 names now - my mother has a 7 - she was given multiple middle names at birth because my grandmother knew she would be the last child.
