This has probably been answered before so I apologize if it has, but which one is best to do first. Is there one you can't do without the other??

hi,
i'm actually doing this right now...i did ss first, then dmv, then the bank. now i'm in the process of calling my credit cards. some other things i thought of are:
any household bills in your name (coned, cable, etc) school loans if you have any retirement plans insurance (car or otherwise) heath plans

I did my SS Card first...then went to the bank and changed my name on my account...then called my cell phone co. up to change my name on there. I think that's all I've done so far.
It's so weird to be in the middle of names!

i feel the same! i feel like my identity is all messed up! especially at work because everybody knows me by my maiden name and i think it will take awhile before they think of me with my married name!!!

it is so weird now, im having an identity crisis jk
but it already has come up a few times where it becomes confusing.

I can't do ANYTHING without the marriage certif. which STILL has not come. Called Nassau County today (where we got married) they said we will get it from NYC (where we got the license) and that they are usually backed up/ take a little longer. Tried calling Clerk in NYC but it's busy or I can't get a live person..........

I did bank first (only needed my marriage license), then SS, then DMV. Next on the list is car insurance!

actually you do have to wait until after the wedding...infact, you have to wait until you receive your marriage certificate in the mail, usually takes a few weeks after you're married
if you look at the people who responded, we're all married already
