Need a few prayers ..(UPDATED ON PAGE 2)

.. for my future father-in-law. He's not doing well. Presently in CCU, after being rushed to the hospital on Sunday night with severe breathing problems. His lungs had filled with fluid, and wouldn't have made it if my future MIL hadn't called 911 and gotten him to the hospital in time.

'Dad' has had heart problems since he was a young man in his 30s, he's had multiple heart attacks and congestive heart failure. They had only given him a few years to live back then - that was over 10 years ago! So he's a fighter! But he's only 56 and it just breaks my heart to see him and FH suffer so.

They've now determined that his mitral valve is leaking and that caused the fluid build-up. But his heart is so damaged & he's so weak that the doctors won't operate, which is the only way to 'treat' this. His condition is futher complicated with diabetes.

FH is just a basket case; his Dad is his best friend. I can honestly say that I love him like a father -- he is the best FIL I could have asked for. He's a special person and always makes me feel like his 'daughter.'

I just feel SO helpless. I had to get this off my chest, I'm sitting here at work just filled with anxiety everytime the phone rings.

You're welcome. : I know how you feel. I'm the same way so I annoy the hell out of my grandmother (who recently got a cell phone..thank god). I call her constantly I'm sure everything is fine though. Some of the tests they perform last a long time.

UPDATE:

I just wanted to thank everyone for all the love and hugs and support they have given me today after I posted this thread. FH is sitting here with me tonight and has tears in his eyes at how wonderful everyone is here -- he sends lots of to you all!

There isn't much change in FFIL , they definitely know that he has a blockage in 2 of his main arteries and his mitral valve is leaking, causing his lungs to fill with fluid and his inability to breathe .. but right now he is stable. My FMIL met with the head of cardiology and tomorrow FFIL is seeing him for evaluation, in order to what options there are to treat this problem (if any). FFIL is feeling better, is in good spirits, and has no specific pain .. so we are grateful for that!

I know all your prayers helped this situation today and we are very hopeful about his prognosis.. I cannot say thank you enough, .. FH and I will keep you all in OUR prayers for all you've done!!
