Need a quick opinion! RE: your FSIL

If your FSIL was a total b*tch, has never even tried to talk to you, just a down right miserable person..........would you bother trying to befriend this person? or not even bother?

I would try. But if it doesn't work out then I wouldn't worry about it.

I actually went through the same thing. My FSIL is a bleeeeeping bleep bleep, but I knew it meant something to FH for me and his sister to get along, so I went out of my way to bond with her. It isn't all it's cracked up to be. If I could go back, I would not have even bothered.

well i wouldnt try to be friends with her....but i would just try to act pleasant around her just to keep the peace with the in laws.

WOW!! I'm surprised so many of you said you wouldn't bother....I had a feeling the overall response would be to make an effort! LOL!

I don't have a problem with being pleasant to her, but my mom told me I should try to take her out to lunch and be her friend.

Of course I'd never be anything but nice (so long as she doesn't cross me!) but to go out of my way to schedule a lunch with her one and one, no way, wouldn't happen. She could just as easily do the same for you but she obviously hasn't so why bother?

I would always be nice. Because other people might see this and appraoch her about her ****** attitude towards you (This happened to my mom, and it def worked in her favor always being nice). But I wouldn't go over board.
