Most of our guests will be traveling for the wedding, so i would like to have a wedding a little less traditional than the big catering halls. Does anyone know of a good place for a reception prefereably out east. I really like the Glen Cove mansion, but they have a minimum amount of guests required on a Saturday and we will not be able to meet that. our wedding is going to be small. Any good ideas? I would also like the reception place to be close to some hotels for our traveling guests.
Thank you!

Re: Need a reception hall
Check out East Winds. They have a hotel attached to it. If you like out east, you should also check out Vineyard Caterers or Raphael Vineyards.

Any--- I just want something that is beautiful, but not over the top. And someplace that can accomodate a smaller party (~75-80ppl)

Re: Need a reception hall
This isn't out east. But I had my wedding at The Fox Hollow in the Winter Garden Pavillion room. Its got an atrium feel to it. Our minimum was 130 guests. But I hear some people had a minimum of like 120. Im not sure how small you are talking. We had a LOT of oot people. There was the Inn at Fox Hollow next door, and there was the Best Western, Fairfield Inn, Executive Inn, and Country Inn.
Out east you could always do a tented outdoor wedding at a vineyard and have people stay in montauk or in riverhead.
Definately check out East Wind, I was just at a wedding there, and it was beautiful, and the hotel rooms are very nice. HTH

Re: Need a reception hall
Just posted this on another thread: we had our reception at Larkfield Manor and I cannot say enough good things about the place and the people that run it.
they have a large room and a smaller one that holds up to 120 people. that's the room we had with a guarantee of only 60. Even with that small number they treated us as if it were a 300 person wedding and everything was perfect. The price is great and you get so much for it that people would guess you spent double what you did. Ours was on a Sunday which helped with the cost. We had a holiday Sunday and they didn't charge more for that either.
their motto is 'Elegance in Catering' and it truly is.
I would highly recommend to check them.

Raphaels is GORGEOUS, very different, and I think OOT guests would absolutely love it. It is a little pricey though.

Re: Need a reception hall
Bellport Country Club.. elegant but relaxed, great food! reasonable and pays attention to detail. This was our second choice! (the cocktail hour room was too small for us. but would be perfect for you!)

Re: Need a reception hall
they're not 'out east' but i'd say:
the irish coffee pub - that's where i'm having my wedding and LOVE it (of course, i booked it )
west sayville country club - probably a good place for your number and nice grounds
the gatsby - good for your numbers and beautiful inside, but the outside it just the parking lot (which can be overlooked, esp in the winter, etc.) and they're just starting to do weddings so they're a bit inflexible with how they do things (which is fine if you like everything they do, you know?)
the bayard cutting arboretum - BEAUTIFUL! my cousin had her wedding there and it was gorgeous, but can only accommodate smaller numbers (like yours). i'd definitely check it out.

Re: Need a reception hall
Check out the Carltun in Eisenhower park. They have a smaller room upstairs, or the wine cellar. I went to a wedding in the upstairs room.
