I would just call her up and tell her nicely that your parents backyard only accomodates X amount of people and that if she could cut her list down to 10 (or however many) that would be great. If these people really are her family, she should only invite the few that are closest to her. If she can't handle that and insists on inviting them over, make HER pay to change the venue and for the extra people! Maybe then she will get the point.
My parents didn't invite any of their friends to our backyard eparty for the same reason, there just wasn't enough room. Its a party for you, not them, so her friends should take a back seat IMO.

I gotta agree with FH.. she can't not have anyone there. Perhaps she can minimize the list. Are they people Fh know?

It seems like you and FH should sit down with her, that way she will discuss how she feels with both of you and the story won't change from person to person. I do agree that she should have some people there that she knows, especially since it's at your parents house and she doesn't have any family. This is a tough situation! Hope the advice helps.

My moms friends were there... and they come in bundles lol
I would suggest seeing if she could cut someone out that she won't be offending.. Usually people come in package deals .. like if I invite this one I have to invite that one.. See if there is someone that isn't a 'package deal' lol
