Need an affordable venue PLEASE.........

I cant seem to find a wedding hall or place that wont cost more that 15,000 - 20,000 for 450 people and allow outside catering. Any suggestions PLEASE! It could be in LI, queens, westchester, etc.. Please

For 450 people??!!!!!????!!!

Umm...maybe try a winery and having a local caterer come in and do something, local knights of columbus, beach. I dont know how you would pull off a 450 guest reception for 20,000....If you want 20k to be your max amount it only gives you a max of $44 per person (including taxes) to spend...Not sure of any places that can go that low...

the wineries are very expensive, i had my eparty out there and most places wanted anywhere between $5k to $30k(!!!!!) just for the site fee!!!!!!! Ubsurd!!!!!!!!!!! We ended up at Martha Clara the site fee was very little BUT I strongly do not recommended them.

I think you have your work cut out for you finding a place to hold 450 people.....I can only think of hotels that might hold that much.

I'm getting $85/head at Crest Hollow for a Sun in Sept...

You may have to go with a weeknight or something....

for 450 people it might be hard getting an RH for $15,000... maybe look at off seasons and weeknights to bring down the cost..

i hate to say this but even at the other suggested prices of $75 or $85, for 450 people still brings it to over $35,000. not including tax & tips. you also need to take into account that those amounts are prices that were given in 2008 (or atleast i think they were). i think you may want to reconsiderate your list of 450 people.

I am sorry to agree with some of the responses here but 450 is going to be tough on that budget. But maybe not impossible. What about a nice park with an outside caterer or just doing a cocktail party somewhere. Definatley look into weeknights and off seasons. Good luck!

My RH (Riccardos by the Bridge)is very reasonably priced you can have a buffet dinner for around 18,000 for 450 people. FM me if you would like more info.

I'm not being judgmental AT ALL so please do not take this the wrong way... but if you're on a budget, is there a reason you need 450 people?? Please don't take this the wrong way - you and FH could have enormous families and tons of friends, so I'm really just curious. It seems like the previous post may have the answer for you, but if that doesn't work out, perhaps you could cut the guest list a bit??

Buffet sounds like a great way to save $
also.. i would stick with using their in house vendors to save some $$ also.

Also realize if children are part of that 450 they are 1/2 price once you meety our guarantee

Have you thought of doing a dessert reception or even a huge potluck reception? My friend got married at a state park's rose garden (costed $100 to reserve), rented tables and linens, and everyone just brought their own dish--all they had to pay for (when it came to food) was the cake. Untraditional can sometimes be a LOT more fun and more budget friendly. This was in the Buffalo, NY area, but I am sure that there are sites in the LI area.

My fiancee and I are finishing up getting our PhDs, so trust me when I say that we are researching up and down ways to have a beautiful and cost-effective wedding :)

I would suggest maybe looking into cutting you guest list down

There's a possibility you can do this, but you might have to have your wedding during an 'off season'...maybe on an afternoon wedding or a Thursday night wedding. A buffet is also a good way to save money.
Could you try to save in other areas too so you can spend more on the venue? (such as flowers..limos..invites..etc)

What about doing it somewhere like Eisenhower Park. I don't think the permit is very expensive. Though you will have to deal with the cost of renting everything (tables, chairs, glasses, flatware...)

how about doing a brunch wedding to cut down the cost?

try your back yard. that might cost $44 per person

Re: Need an affordable venue PLEASE.........

I think a park would probably fit what you need, since it appears you have a caterer in mind.

Is the caterer supplying you with tables, linens, chairs, etc? If not, you will have to rent them which would be an additional cost.

If a park is not what you are looking for, then my only other suggestion would be to limit your guest list.
