Need Ceremony Help! (sorry, long)

Need Ceremony Help! (sorry, long)

I'm getting married inside my reception hall and I need some help. They provide the aisle runner, pedestals and the chuppa. Now, I'm sorry if I sound ignorant but do you have to be Jewish to use the chuppa. My BM said it was fine and that half the people don't even realize it's a chuppah (it's 4 poles draped in a lot of linen). It's very pretty and would save me money instead of having a florist put something together.

Next question. The hall provides 6 pedestals and puts your CP's on top of them for the ceremony. One florist I went to said my CP's wouldn't look good on top of the stark white pedestals. My CP's are low with fall colored roses and callas in a square vase. The florist said it wouldn't look good because you would see the stems and people would just think 'oh, she just put her CP's on top of the pedestals for decoration'. What do you girls think? This is driving me crazy

TIA!!!

I'm in the same exact boat on BOTH counts.

You don't have to be Jewish to have a chuppah. I'm Catholic, FH is Jewish and we're having one. Most people might not even realize what it is.

As for the CPs, I have the same issue. I realize it doesn't matter if the CPs are used or not. The ceremony is only a half hour anyway. No one will notice if there are flowers or not. I'm oly putting minimal flowers on the chuppah and that's it.

Many people get married under an arch or canopy, so that can go both ways. If someone is jewish, they can say its a chuppah. If someone is non-jewish, they can say its an arch.

As for the flowers, use your centerpieces, believe me, no one will notice. Your florist probably just wants you to spend more $$ for ceremony flowers.

Not sure about the flowers on the pedestals, but as for the huppah, we are using the one the hall has, and we're calling it a canopy. We're both agnostic even though my parents are Jewish. We're having a civil ceremony, but the canopy is a nice touch.

Also, if you really want to make it more of an arch, you could see about adding lots of flowers to it. Your florist could probably do that. Check out NYbride's review; she has a gorgeous arch made of flowers.

Many peopel get married under a gazebo, an arch, etc. I don't think it matters. The meaning is what you place on it

And with the flowers. I think your floriust is just trying to make money by getting you to spend more $$ on ceremony arrangements. Buy a roll of tulle and drape it around the galss vase and make a big bow. That's cover the stems and add a nice touch
