(Thanks Michele) Just visited David's Bridal, and was very pleased with the attention I received. The girls were extremely nice and patient, and I actually enjoyed the experience. I wondered if any of you have dealt with them and bought a wedding gown from them. They are so much less expensive, I wondered if the service (once a dress is ordered and needs alterations) is as good as when I was there just looking and trying on. Anyone care to share? Also, how on earth do you pick a florist and a printer for invitations? Thanks.

Florists/Invitations
To start, try a florist that is recommended by your catering hall and get a quote for what you need. Also, ask around. Friends/family almost always know someone who has gotten married recently and can recommend vendors. For invitations, you can look online try www.rexcraft.com to get ideas. Stationary stores have many invitation catalogs that you can look through. We went to Party City and they had a ton.

David's
I bought my wedding dress from the Tampa store and had no problems, they shipped it up to NY for me for free. Then my bridesmaids all went and ordered theirs and they said the Brooklyn store was great. Your girls just all have to have their money at the time of order and all orders to go in together. For the price I saved, I would definately recommend them.

I will just add that I looked there for my wedding dress and wasn't happy. The saleslady assigned to me after they made me register ignored me, and I couldn't get her to help me for anything (we went on a Friday afternoon). Basically my mom and I did all the stuff. Didn't find anything I liked, so that was that.
However, I will say that all 6 of my girls got their BM dresses from David's and there wasn't any problems. We ordered style #8004, and even though I didn't get my dress there, they still let us use the 15% off coupon I had. Only thing was girls had to pay upfront before they would place an order (the dresses we got came to $165, but we paid only $150 with the discount). I was told 6-8 weeks and the dresses came in after 3 weeks, all in the right color and size. So I have no complaints on ordering BM dresses. I think all my girls will go to their own tailor for alterations.
Oh, a side note off the subject, but David's sells your info when you register. I can't begin to tell you how much mail and email and phone calls I received from vendors soliciting their services. After awhile it got real annoying......

Need Comments on David`s Bridal
Please don't go to David's Bridal. I had a horrible experience (too long to tell), and since then I have heard so many horror stories. Believe me I love saving money just like the next bride, but it is worth paying a little more elsewhere. As someone who has been engaged over a year (my wed. is in May), you will have enough to worry about without worrying about them getting you YOUR dress (that was just one of my stories, a bride got the wrong dress). And re: bridesmaids, they lie. LIE, LIE about everything. Please trust me. I went to the Carle Place, NY store. The woman told me I was trying on to many dresses and can I come back?? I traveled from Eastern LI to get there. Please, the worst customer service I even encountered.

Need Comments on David`s Bridal
One more bit of useful information. For everything you are considering. Check out the Better Business Bureau (on the internet). Do a search for the address, I dont' know it off hand. I just checked for you. Davids Bridal has recieved 7 complaints in the last 3 years. Which isn't ridiculous, but consider this.... How many dissatisfied customers, didn't bother informing BBB??? Just be careful. Everything I did I checked the BBB. I have made wonderful decisions. I also listened to people on this board. I was considering Alladian Limos until I read about them on the board, and checked the BBB. I have been advising people not to go there. And last night, guess what? They had a fox 5 problem solvers re: Alladain not picking up a bride/prom girl. However, there is now a big investigation, and people are starting to come forward. Please once again, save your time. Don't bother with David's bridal. You don't get any customer service. You deserve better for your wedding.

David's
I would not recommend David's Bridal out in Carle Place. I had a terrible experience with them for my bridesmaids dresses. I then went to the David's Bridal in Queens to get their dresses in that store and the sales girls were so nice and helpful.

I think you can have problems in any store. You just have to keep on top of things. My sister bought her dress at Carle Place Davids Bridal and her dress came in w/i 2 months. The woman who helped her pick it Theresa was very nice and accommodating. My sister went back a couple of times after ordering it just to show other bridesmaids and future in laws. So it all depends. I bought my dress at Wedding Center in Commack. Great price and I ordered it in Sept. and they called me end of October to say it is in. I picked it up in November and it is hanging on my closet door for my May wedding. I could have kept it there but I feel better knowing it is where I can see it.

I agree with wutie -- you can definitely have problems with any store, no matter who they are. I got my BM's dresses in the one in Astoria/Long Island City. We had no problem whatsoever -- we ordered the dresses in March and got them about 4 weeks later. My friend also got her bride gown from there and it came in less than 2 months time.
I would definitely recommend David's for the bridesmaids because their prices are so reasonable, and after being in 9 weddings before my own, let's face it, when are we ever going to wear them again??

You girls are all talking about ordering dresses from David's. I always thought that when you bought from Davids, the dress you try on is the dress you buy! Is this something new that they are doing?

Please do not order anything from David's Bridal!!! I have had NUMEROUS horrible experiences there, as have others in my family. It's just not worth the hassle.

David`s- my experience
Personally, I have had a great experience so far with David's. It is a national chain...so of course unfortunately some locations are known to be problematic. I bought my wedding dress and had in a month with no problems...then my bridesmaids and I ordered their bridesmaid dresses from there. The dresses were in with-in a month, without a problem.
I also deal with the David's from Buffalo so relating my experiece to some would be unfair.
I sometimes wonder if the Corporation is aware of the problems that typically occur at the same stores? It doesn't seem like they wouldn't do *something* about it. :)

David's - My Experience
I bought my dress at David's (an out of NY store) and it was annoying, but they got my order right and I had minimal problems. When we went to Carle Place to look for bridesmaids dresses it was horrible. The store was filthy and the sales (lack of) help was so rude! One of the clerks made one of my bridesmaids cry - she was so mean. I've heard that the stores in L.I.C. & Brooklyn are fine to work with but steer clear of that pit in Carle Place!

You order the dress, you don't buy the one off the rack that you try on. You order the size you try on, they don't measure you.
