Re: Need Guacamole recipe

MMMMMMM - I LURVE Guacamole. Here's mine...

get all the ingedients ready before you peel and chop the avocado's since
they brown when exposed to air.

* garlic minced -- to taste. one regular clove for 2 avocados is just
fine but if you like more -- pile it on baby!

* about a 1/4 of red pepper minced (if you want more add more, this isn't
communist Russia!!!!!)

* about 1-2 tablespoons minced red onion (same song and dance, more if you
want it)

* one average sized plum tomato gutted and cut into chunks (more if you like)

* about 1-2 teaspoons of sour cream, just enough to lighten it up a bit

* about 1 teaspoon cumin - i usually add it in pinches and taste as i go
along - i recommend you do the same. cumin can get away from ya

* about 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro (this also has a strong taste
so add what you like)

* salt and pepper to taste

* if desired add a pinch of cyanne pepper for a little heat or add some
jalepenos

peel avocados and throw the slimy pits at FH
reserve half of one avocado and cut into chunks
mash the remaining avocado and add all above ingredients
gently mix in the reserved avocado chunks

cover with plastic wrap and press it onto the top of the guacamole to
prevent browning.

let chill in refrigerator for about 30 minutes to an hour to let flavors
blend.

after flavors have blended taste and adjust seasonings as needed!

you are now well on your way to guacamole heaven -- mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Re: Need Guacamole recipe

Rule of thumb: one avocado per 4 people.

1 avocado (ripe)
1 tomato (ripe)
about 1 TBSP mayonnaise
salt
pepper
Lemon juice

Cut the tomatoes so that you tos the 'guts', the seeded part in the middle. CUt what's left into little squares, throw in with avocado, mix in the rest, mash the hell out of it and go to town.

For me the lemon juice makes all the diff in the world

You two are funny! Thanks!
Thrilled yours will do it for me. FH isn't a fan of guacamole so I will eat it all by myself. I don’t need any help anyway. I could eat guacamole everyday mmmm I will remember to toss him the avacado peels!

Re: Need Guacamole recipe

I love homemade Guacamole

2 Avocados Mashed
1/2 red onion finely chopped
1 tomato chopped
Jalapino pepper, to taste, chopped as small as you can
Juice of 1/2 of a lime (or more to taste)
Salt

Mix everything together in bowl and your done!
Yummy!
Serve with tortilla chips and watch it fly!

Make sure you buy the avocado a few days in advance, they must be ripe. They will be slightly soft at the top when ripe.

I could eat it all myself!!

Debbus thanks for the soft at the top tip. Didn't know how to tell whether a avacado was ripe or not.

I like guacamole too and my recipe is similar to the above. Except that sometime I add the salsa chunks instead of or in addition to tomatoes for a bit more spice.
