We are trying to just make up our minds about where to go for memorial day weekend,,so many places sound good to us..but now someone one suggested Montreal. We have never been, we have only been to Vancouver many times and Toronto a few times..can anyone tell us about Montreal, what there is to do? What location would be best to book a hotel? Whats the nightlife like? Its only five hours for us( we are in NJ)..so we are looking into it. Thanks in advance!!! I know Jess2 is on her honeymoon right now there!!!

The casino is huge! Montreal is a fun place. St. Catherine street is where a lot of things go on. There are all kinds of bars and places to hang out.

Honestly I do not remember exactly where St. Cathering street is. It has been a while since I have been there. Sorry.
ETA: Check out this website for some background. It mentions St. Catherine Street in it. Montreal

I don't know if it is still there, but I went to this bar/club there called The Dome about 5 years ago. I've never had so much fun in my life. FI and my college sponsored a trip there and we went with a bunch of our friends. We had tons of drinks - they were really generous at the bar and bought us back a lot of shots. FI was the first one of us up in the cage dancing! The dance floor revolves and I think there was a big swing inside too. We also went to several other bars that were fun, but that one was the best if you're looking for great nightlife.

I don't know anything about Canada, but a friend had her HM in Quebec and LOVED IT. DH has been, but I think it was Toronto. I think going somewhere new is a great idea alicia....being married is 'new', 'new' destination for vacation, 'new' experiences

Alicia....I stayed at the Queen Elizabeth hotel...it was very nice. A very nice restaurant is Gibby's...it's a steak place...and I'm not a steak fan, but it's soooo yummy. And yes...St. Catherine's Street is the 'downtown' area....tons of shopping (the conversion rate works in your favor) and lots of retaurants/bars, etc. Have fun! I have lots of friends up there!
