Need Help. Asking my bridesmaids at my e-party, but don't know how I'm going to do it?
So I am asking my bridesmaids at my e-party, but don't know how I'm going to do it procedurally? Basically, I'm making cards w/ barbie doll hangers and dresses w/ poems written inside the card.
The problem....I have no idea how I'm going to go about giving them out. Do I put it on there table under plates, do I hold on to them and after dinner announce there names and ask them to come up...I have no idea...I need help and any suggestions.
My e-party is at SandCastle and going to consist of about 110 people. I'm doing a cocktail hour, sit-down dinner, viennesian hour and have a DJ playing also....(basically, it's going to be a mini wedding with only immediate family and close friends).
I was thinking about getting the microphone and announcing people to come up...but, since I'm going to have a Big Bridal Party...I don't want to make it look like I'm just reading several names off a list. Please help...I have no idea when I should present or how.
Thanks for listening.

I think that it may not be the best idea to ask them at your e-party.
(for example, let's just say that one person is planning on relocating, or maybe trying to start planning a family, or whatever...if you ask her at your e-party, in front of everyone, it may put her in an ackward position. )
Can you ask them right before the party and then you can celebrate with them at the party?
I am sure that everyone will accept this honor with pleasure, but you really can't automatically assume that they will. You really do need to give them the option to accept your invitation into the bridal party.

Your right...that's another thing I'm kind of nervous about..I don't want them to feel pressured just because they are in front of soooo many people. I'm pretty sure all of them would accept, and some are already expecting it, but, then again nothing is ever guaranteed.

If I had it to do over, I would have waited until 5-6 months before my wedding to choose the bridal party. I had a 2 year engagement. I didn't lose anyone or add anyone, but things changed SO MUCH during those 2 years!
for example, I had enough time to learn that I made a HUGE mistake with one of the bridesmaids. But, how could I possibly 'fire' my Dh's cousin from the bridal party?! So, instead, I kept her in, and she was the bridesmaid from hell and now there are broken family ties because of it.
You really don't even have to have your 'bridal party' ready at your engagement party. I say, sit back, relax, and don't even stress over the bridal party until the wedding gets closer!

I agree with you. I think that is a better option. We also are having a 2 year engagement party. Life brings about so many changes. I'd rather have people who are close to me at that time than end up feeling forced to have someone there just because I opened my mouth to fast and then feel bad to say 'I don't want you anymore'.
The only reason I was actually thinking about doing it at the e-party was because it would be an unexpected surprise and then we can celebrate all together....but, I'd rather not have any regret's.
Thanks for your help.

i actually did it at my engagement party but i pulled each of them aside one at a time in private to ask them......although my engagement party was at my future in laws so it may not be as easy to do that at catering hall! good luck!

I read your post and I just thought I would share with you how I asked my bridesmaids! I have been in the process of making a 'Wedding Scrapbook'. Whenever I see things in a bridal magazine that I like i rip out the page, and cut out what i like (Example: Flowers, nice cakes, favor ideas, etc.) and put it in my scrapbook that I got at Michaels. It's been a big hit with my family, they love looking through it and I love their opinions on things...but anywayz, so on the very last page I created it with stickers and such that read:
~Michele~
Would you be my Bridesmaid?
Say yes!
And after they read the page I had a bridesmaid t-shirt for them! it was a big hit! One of my BMs started crying! I know this might not be the answer to your dilema but I just thought I'd share! Good luck with everything!

I asked mine at my e-party. Its my sister, his sister and 2 close friends. I knew they all had some idea anyway, but needed to ask them 'offically' I got so nervous and started crying that i messed the whole thing up. I was so upset. They all said yes though. The the boys told me that FH speeech made them almost cry. I felt like an a** for messing up with my girls.

Those are such cute ways to ask. I know I'm going to go all out for my girls...I'd probably end up doing more than necessary...but in the end it's all worth it. The thing I look forward to the most is seeing their looks on there faces. I'm sooo excited.
