I LOVED Watermill..only thing is I have a lot of people coming from Queens and it's about an hour drive---is that too much to ask people??? I would be having it in the Astor room!
Woodbury Country CLub was decent, but they asked a minimun of 175 on a sat nite!!!
Is there a minimun at Watermill for a sat nite???
PLEASE HELP I AM GOING CRAZYYYYYYY

I have a lot of people coming from brooklyn too and I'm getting marriend at lands end in sayville. I would go with the place you love the most no matter how far it is. Your family will come, it's your day! Just look into hotels nearby if they choose not to drive home the same night.

I agree. Sounds like you answered your own question, you love Watermill... so go for it! One hr is not too too bad!

Re: NEED HELP---CAN'T PICK BETWEEN..........
first things first---with the choice between those two places--you can NOT make a bad choice! they are both great.
that being said--i'm biased as i'm a watermill bride and i LOVE that place. check out the bride's review and see what past one have said--they go over and beyond to make you happy that day! don't worry about the drive--your guests will make the trek for your wedding!!!!!
if you have any questions, feel free to FM me!

Re: NEED HELP---CAN'T PICK BETWEEN..........
I am biased as well since I'm a Watermill bride, I also believe their minimum is in the 200's for a night wedding because I'm having an afternoon wedding there and my minimum is 165. However, one of my BM's who is also engaged is having her wedding at the Woodbury Country Club. She absolutely loves it. Choose whatever you feel you will be most happy with.

Re: NEED HELP---CAN'T PICK BETWEEN..........
I'm biased because I'm a Watermill bride. I'm sure they have a minimum on a Saturday night...ask them what it would be. I'm in the Vanderbuilt so I'm not sure what it is upstairs.
My advice to you is go with your gut. I looked at a bunch of places and really liked a lot of them. But when I tried to envision where I could imagine myself the day of, how I would set things up, the color schemes, atmosphere, etc. Watermill took the cake. I've heard very little negative about it (although you will always hear good and bad about every vendor you look at in the whole wedding planning process) and I trust they will help make my day the day I've always dreamed of.
HTH! Best of luck and keep us posted!

Re: NEED HELP---CAN'T PICK BETWEEN..........
i prefer the watermill...when i went to see the people at the woodbury country club they were really rude...plus i didn't like that they didn't have elevators for my elderly guests..but remember you have to pick the place that you love...the people that want to be there for your day will make the trip no matter where it is

Re: NEED HELP---CAN'T PICK BETWEEN..........
If your guests are taking the Expressway, the Watermill isn't that much further!
I too am biased towards the Watermill (that was my second choice - I was torn I had to have my FH pick!). I think their minimum was 225 for a Saturday night
WCC was absolutely wonderful in every way! I was treated like a princess from the day I booked to the end of my wedding night.
Oh and ETA they do have elevators...

Re: NEED HELP---CAN'T PICK BETWEEN..........
well im a watermill bride...so i say there! haha but ive heard good on both so i think your safe either way! Watermill will work w. you...i went in w/ a lower # for a Sat night and they gave me no issues...i told them 150 ppl will prob show and they came back w. 135 min...so that was fine. Than i changed to a fri night and he didnt and i didnt even bother tryin to get it lower. i say lowball it.....

Re: NEED HELP---CAN'T PICK BETWEEN..........
i am from astoria queens and the watermill was NOT too far to drive to. And don't worry too much about the minimum... you can always negotiate it down to less people, the same way you can negotiate down the price :)
good luck and happy planning

Re: NEED HELP---CAN'T PICK BETWEEN..........
The catering hall I chose is an hour away from my house. IMO, if you love the Watermill go for it, don't worry about the drive - people who want to be there will find a way. My mom booked a limo to take my family so they don't have to drive.

Re: NEED HELP---CAN'T PICK BETWEEN..........
We got the woodbury minimum down to 160 for a saturday night. I also got Bob to put in the contract that I wanted extra wiatstaff on that night because I have heard mixed things about the drink service.

Go with the Watermill, it's beautiful and you're family will come no matter what!! They're are some chain hotels in the area too for guests (Holiday Inn and Hampton, I believe).

Re: NEED HELP---CAN'T PICK BETWEEN..........
I say go with your gut - and dont worry abt the distance.
I live in Queens and Fh lives in Brooklyn - and we booked the Watermill. You are having it on a Sat night - so ppl will have the time to get there - and they wont have to worry abt going to work the next day.
Watermill seems reallly far - but in reality - its a little over an hr - its not so bad of a commute ... as long as you take the Northern State STRAIGHT ... the LIE is a little more turns, and takes a little longer.
