My FH and I just put our website together and many people told us they can't come to our wedding. Now we have maybe 75!!! We had 110 guaranteed, so I guess we have to look for new reception hall. Do you know any places with lower guarantee? We really need something fast! My FH's family is small, I am just having my parents to come and we can't come up with more people. Thanks

Your wedding is not until 2009 - how do you have responses from people?
Where are you getting married?
Have you figured out your entire invitation list yet?

We planned everything already, made a list and just put together the website and people were writing there that they are so sorry but they aren't coming. And we went to 75!

well hopefully things will change within a year's time. i'm surprised that everyone knows for a fact they cannot make it to your wedding, which is over a year away! are you already booked at your current RH? can you get your deposit back if you change?
ETA: if you are currently booked, then where?

Wow...How do your guests know what they will be doing over year from now? I would definitely talk to them about it.

I have a 75 gurantee with Chateau Briand but I am getting married on a Thursday. Westbury Manor has small room that the minimum I think is 60 people.

Don't be upset...you will DEFINITELY have your dream wedding. Everything will work out.
Some reception halls will allow you to make up the difference in 'upgrades'. Try checking them out. I would also contact your family....maybe something else is going on that weekend? At least it will give you some peace of mind.

I had 50 ppl at my wedding- always wanted a smaller one... plus DH's fam is all far- Idaho, Alaska, etc. so very few could come. the old field club has no minumum on sundays!!

You should look into Caffe on the green in Bayside, Queens...they have one room that can hold about 80-85 people (with a 60 person minimum), and a larger room for about 100 or so. Beuatiful grounds and good food.

okay - first question...
do you have a place booked? If yes - do you know their cancellation policy? have you put money down? will you lose that money?
second...
if you are willing to move your date you may have a LOT of luck with locations. getting married in the 'off season' means you can have a very low number and have a GORGEOUS place.
For example - i had a minimum of 75 at the BEAUTIFUL Fox Hollow & we had our dream wedding...

We were able to get the Meadow Club-Meadow room on a Sat night with a min of 75 people for an amazing price. It is in PJS. Please FM if you want more info. Smaller is more affordable. don't guarantee more than you think you can get, otherwise you will be paying for nobody.

Would you consider a destination wedding for just your closest family members or is your heart set on a big reception?
