Hi Ladies, My mom is having a hard time finding a MOB dress. The problem is that she's too young (she's 50 and a size 6) for a lot of the MOB dresses out there but too, um, mature to be in a bridesmaid type dress. We need to find a dress that is somewhere in the middle. Does anyone have any suggestions where to go? Or pictures of MOB dresses that might help?

Re: Need Help with Mom's dress
She should probably just go to an upscale department store and find an evening gown.
MOB dresses are so frumpy looking no matter what size you are.

Re: Need Help with Mom's dress
I went with my FMIL (is is 50 yrs, 6ft tall and a size 8) to the Wedding Center in Commack. There were a lot of dresses that were sexy and elegant. Also, check at Jordan Fashions website, they had some nice MOB dresses as well.
Good luck

My mom wore a dress by Jovani. Very classy, not frumpy at all!!!!! She didn't want that 'old lady' look either!!

My mom is having a similar problem- She turns 50 next week and she is a size 6. I would suggest Nordstrom or we just went to Boutique Elle in Woodbury they are $$$ but they were having a sale. Good Luck. I have heard that this is the hardest part alot of people.

Re: Need Help with Mom's dress
we got my mom's dress at 'My Daughter's Wedding III' in Great Neck, they had a good selection. My mom is also young, she's 57, and she wanted something not too overdone and typical MOB-ish. We ordered her dress the last week in August and it was in by late November or early December they were super fast. Here are some pictures, we loved the caplet sleeves. She can't waits till it is steamed and altered to fit.
There is this great place called TOTALLY YOU in Wantagh on Merrick...
It is GREAT... they have all different brands and designers, many different types of styles... and all sizes to try on.
You should def check it out!
They also have great prices!

Re: Need Help with Mom's dress
Does she have something specific style or fabric in mind? maybe you can opt to have it custom made. She can choose the color, the fabric, the design. She can even have a replica of the designer's dress. This is what my friend did when she got married. All of her BMs (inlcuding me) doesn't have the same sizes and we wanted different styles. she found a tailor online it's called bridesmaidtailor, you can do a google search for that. We got what we wanted and not to mention they were cheap!
