Need help with style and type of veil! Pictures helpful!
Ok so I am now trying to figure out my veil options. I don't know what to choose! What kind of veil would you guys suggest? Photos would help!
I was thinking fingertip or elbow length. originally i wanted a cathedral length but I think it will eat me alive throughout the day! I don't want to sepnd 150+ on a veil only to have to yank it off because it is obnoxious. This is my dress and the comb I am planning to wear in my hair to one side(included the pic of how I will most likely wear it)-Well similar. Mine is actually about a 1/3 smaller than this one.
TIA!

You could get a two- or three-tier veil where you can remove the cathedral attachment.
My plan is to get a 3-tier veil and remove the cathedral part after the church / pictures.

That's what I did too.
You look gorgeous in your dress! I do think the cathedral would look great with it!

Thanks guys... I just don't know if cathedral will overwhelm me. When i tried the dress on the first time I tried on a cathedral veil. Maybe it was the way it was arranged, but I look like Im drowning! My hair was WAAAAY shorter too. Maybe that is whats throwing me off. If I went cathedral i would have to definetly sans the lace because it will be too much.
How do you know if a veil has a detachable part? Are there certain designer sthat carry them? Thanks again!

I got mine from the 'other' veil/tiara/jewelry booth at Tri-County. The cathedral layer attached to the comb for the two-tier with velcro. It was really easy!

I think whatever you do, don't go with a really poofy veil - it will overwhelm you!
The veil in the picture is too much / too poofy for you and the dress -- I'd go with something simple and elegant. I think you can do this with a cathedral length or fingertip lengh.
If you like the longer look, but don't want to go cathedral, I'd go with a simple fingertip length veil.
Whatever you choose, you will look stunning in that gown!!

Ooooh, have you considered a single layer fingertip length veil with lace around the edge? Something really simple, but it could be beautiful!
I think I saw a picture of something similar on here somewhere... I'll try to find it.

LOL thanks Gina. And thanks Kara for looking for it! i posted the photo of me in the longer veil on your thread-it was a cathedral mantilla and I think that style would be AWESOME with your derss because your dress has that old world romantic glamour to it. Definetly long for you, not a short one.
As for mine, I am defiently thinking one tier fingertip. I like the idea of two only for the photo with the bride and groom tangled up in the bride's veil together, but like you said, might be too much poof for me. That veil in pic was one they plopped on my head to make me look 'bridal.' Its terrible isn't it?!

I LOVE this veil but am wondering if it is too much, Another member actualy bought this one and was kind enough to find me a link where I could get it from. Do you think it would be overkill with the dress and comb? Beading is only on the ends but you never know....
I plan to try and see if I can try it on in person but before I trekked over there, wanted to know if anyone considered it a waste of time.
BTW it is the picture on the lower left-the one with the flower motiff, not the scroll work. TIA!

I'm terrible at figuring what goes with what...but looking at the photo gallery on Kathy Occansey's site helped me out with lots of ideas!

I think a mantilla style veil would look pretty with that gown. Typically, they're long (chapel length or longer) but this vendor online (who I ordered from) carries shorter mantilla styles.

how about an elbow tip and a cathedral and you can take the cathedral off for the reception? love the hair BTW

Jennie, thanks for that link. The first one of the lace edges is EXACT match to my gown-course it would be the expensive one! :)
I actually tried on a mantilla veil when I first tried on my gown-it was what made me fall in love with it-looked old world romance. But I think it will get in my way and I don't know if I can justify to myself, ladies, being ona budget and all, to have TWO veils... One for a 30 minute ceremony and pictures and another for the reception? HELP!
And thanks LBride. Least i ahve the hair if not the veil!
I just LOOOOVE this veil below....
The lace is an EXACT match to my dress. Just perfect but its $138.00 and I think with the comb it would be over the top. The chapel lenth one is $174 so I don't know if I could afford two veils or want to remove the sucker!
Hmm what if I wear the comb only during the reception and then remove the veil? OYE! Choices!
What do you ladies think? Something like this veil or the one I posted earlier in this thread? I appreciate everyone's help.

What if you got the chapel length one and had it 'bustled'. I was going to do that with mine but I changed my mind and took it off. That way you're only buying one veil. I know it can be done, the wedding salon of manhasset was going to do it for me. You could probably bring it to where you're getting your dress altered, they'd probably do it for a nominal fee.
ETA: This was the EXACT same style of my veil only mine was cathedral length. So I'm rather partial to the look! I would do whatever you can to get it!

what about a finger tip mantilla, with lace that complements your gown? It's light and airy, and not too fussy....

Re: Need help with style and type of veil! Pictures helpful!
The one I posted and Jennie reposted is fingertip length and the lace matches identically. Its amazing. But portjeff, do you think it will go with the comb? That is my new dilema.
I would probably wear it over my face like that for the ceremony, but during the reception I'd toss it back like this.
Will this style compliment the comb? I HAVE to wear the comb at some point during the day because my MOH bought it for me as a gift and it was NOT cheap and were both on budgets. -sighs- So many complications!
Ok so my comb is about a 1/3 smaller then the one I originally posted but otherwise it looks just like that. The hair I showed you guys and the dress. Will all of that go with the veil Jennie showed me? (which I LOVE) Or should I go much simpler?
Please let me know ladies.

I think the comb would go under the mantilla.... That's at least how I intend to wear my hair clip....
Since the veil is sheer and one layer, you can still easily see the comb....
I don't think it would be a problem......

i 100% agree! i was going to say this until iread this. that veil is totally wrong for you! i think you would do beter with a mantilla veil.. something flat, thin, elegant.
i would do a catherdral with that dress- get a detacble one
