Here's our bathroom (our landlord just renovated it... pay NO ATTENTION to that window treatment... I was trying something different, hated it, and returned it! LOL, now I just have a plain white valance)...
It's greys, blues, and whites. I know it doesn't help you with the color of your bathroom and what paint color to choose, but it's just another perspective...
If I were you... I'd paint in a neutral color, maybe even white, that way you can play around with colors for the towels.. switch it up every once in a while..

jk its denim blue bc all the tiles are like beige and i have gotten more compliments on my bathroom then any other room in the apt!

Our bathroom is beige with tils half way up also. We kept the paint neutral in case we ever want to change it, but we added chocolate brown with blue accents, towels, etc. I it. Our bedroom is brown and blue also.

our bathroom will be blue. it was pink when we moved in and i couldn't stand it. we went and bought the paint and everything... but we haven't painted it yet b/c i'm lazy haha but... yea... a nice blue.

my mom just did her bathroom over she used i think the color was called wedgewood blue??? it's a beautiful blue gray color. very pottery barn
this color gets my vote - with yellow accents - very cottage-y...

i like white because you can change your decor if you get bored by changing shower curtains, towels and accessories. like this shower curtain...you can see it goes nice against beige and white
