I commented once on fmil's necklace, and she told me the cousin made it. Then she told me for my wedding, she wants to have her make me one to wear, her treat.
She said we will all go to the city together and pick out the beads, and I agreed. She said it would mean a lot to her. I was nervous about it, but said ok. I have since found and bought a necklace to wear that I love. I have not found a way to tell her yet, so I haven't. I just got an email that she is looking foward to going to the city with me- it means so much to her that I am going to be her daughter. HELP!

Re: Need MIL help!
Personally, I don't think you're being mean or ungrateful. You don't get married every day. I do think its a nice gesture on FMIL's part but if you want something different she shouldn't hold that against you.

Re: Need MIL help!
Don't kick yourself for not saying no in the beginning, you were just trying to be nice. It's hard, because it's the one day in your entire life where you get to shine, it's all your day, and then people want certain things, and suddenly it's not what you pictured. Wow... where did that come from?
At any rate, thank her for the offer but tell her you have another necklace you have your heart set on wearing. You can use the story that it's a gift if you want. I think it's probably better to say that than to hurt her feelings. And then see if you can take her up on the offer for a bracelet/anklet, and earrings. I'm sure your FH will understand if you explain the situation to him.
