So my aunt has my grandma's wedding dress, and unfortunately only the skirt is still in tact after all these years. She offered to give my mom some material from it to make me something for my wedding. Question is what is she going to make??
~Garter is out of the question since I already have two
~Not enough material to make a rehearsal dinner dress
~I was thinking of a hankie, but felt guilty blowing my nose with my grandma's wedding dress ha ha
So I was thinking of maybe a small clutch. Any other suggestions??

Do you have to use it for the wedding? What about something for your baby? The skirt to the bassinet?

Thats why there is not enough material since my aunt wants to make a christening outfit out of it for my cousin's child (if he ever gets married and has children)
Thanks for the idea, but I was kinda looking for something for the wedding.

Use the material to make the ring bearers pillow. My sister made my pillow out of my communion dress

A friend of mine who got married yesterday had the lace from her mother's wedding gown around her bouquet. It looked incredible. Pedestals did her flowers by the way..

- Love the clutch idea, but you could possibly use that again - a shawl - You dont have to USE the hanky - Have a piece embroidered with her name and sew it into your dress - Wrap your bok with the fabric
HTH!

You could use it to wrap around your bouquet stem.

OMG I was just thinking about the embroidered square. I want something I can keep so I dont want to wrap my bok with the fabric. If I have some extra, I can definitely do that. I am even thinking of the hankie bc I found a sterling silver pin of hers and I think I can attach the hankie to the inside of my dress with it. Then, I can always use the hankie to make a christening bonnet from it for my child.
Thanks girls for all the advice

My thoughts too. That or the christening outfit. I would somehow preserve this material so it is fine by the time you use it for the future little one!

Yea I think I am going to go with the hankie idea since i can use it for the wedding and then convert it into a cap for the baby at his/her christening.
My aunt is using most of the material for her future grandchildren

I like the idea of a clutch bag !!! if there is enough material you could also make your card bag from it too!

I like the idea of a dress patch, and you can get the date of your grandmom's wedding and your wedding monogrammed on it.

I'm using a part of my mothers wedding dress to use to wrap my bouquet! Don't know if that is what you are looking for, so I hope this helps!
