You can do it! There are some other brides on here that quit smoking. You could start a support thread.

I can't relate to your problem, I have never smoked, but I know that it must be really hard! NYS has a hotline that you can call to help you get through it-NYS quitline

Good luck!!!

Just think about all the NEGATIVE side effects of smoking:
Bad breath
Yellow teeth
You & your clothes stink

Not to mention all the health risks!!! Blah, who wants that??

YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!

Just think of how much it hurts Mike to see you do it!!! Think of your wonderful home that Mike & you completely redid!!! you don't want to have the smell in there or the walls that are a beautiful green turn shades of yellow!!!

Plus, you want some little & you need to be super healthy for that!!! Remember, time is a coming

Re: Need some support..........

This is a (LONG) email I worter to a friend who is in a similar situation as you. I saved it bc I even have weak days and It reminds me of how strong I can be. I am here to chat! FM if you want.

WARNING LONG EMAIL, but its long bc I love you. If I didn’t I would have only wrote you one line.---------

Anyway
I really didn’t think long and hard about quitting. Sure it was always in the back of my head. And my friends hated that I smoked and said I smelled all the time, etc. Jim(my FH) was my influence. He asked me to quit and I tried it. (I have never quit before) Minus some fall backs in March I haven’t had a cigarette. I miss smoking EVERYDAY. And my fight is long from over. Most people go back even after many years. So in essence, I am still quitting.

But.... you all smell really bad after you have a cigarette. And not like you think you smell either. Take that piece of advice to the bank. When you are a non smoker, people who smoke smell BAD!!!!!!!!!!
Their clothes stink, hair, even perfumes make you smell worse. And it doesn’t smell like it did when I smoked (and I smoked in my apt with no windows open, so I can only imagine how much roomate hated me.) It smells putrid and I now understand why restaurants were like no way José.
Some ways I quit and things I thought about:
---Patch was useless to me. Made things worse.
---When I had a hard hard crave I rode it, didn’t fight it. They last about 1.5 minutes. Best piece of advice given to me by a fellow quitter:) ---I used to say if I wanted a cigarette, if it was that bad, I would have one 'tomorrow'--and said that for about 200 tomorrows ---I bleached my teeth and bought awesome skin cleansers and moisturizers, bc in the beginning your skin and mouth detox and things come out of you that look alien. Then you become so beautiful ---My hands smell like hands now. Not like old tushy ---While I did gain a few lbs, things taste so delicious--SO DELICIOUS --Did I mention you all stink? I have all the clothes I wore to aunt both on xmas eve and last Thursday in a garbage bag in my apt. bc they reek. (she's a smoker)
---I no longer have eczema on my forehead and my roseaca has practically disappeared And the best best best thing:) I cannot remember the last time I coughed. WAHOO!!!!!
---I had friends who supported me. And if you really really really want to quit, I will be your friend. I will be your 3am call, the first time you cry when you want one (oh there is crying) I will yell at you and cheer you up, anything. My mother, brother, Andrea, Michelle and Lisa were not my friends. I am not mad or blame them bc when my friend Josh quit, I wasn’t his friend either. I smoked right in front of him when I didn’t have to. And I know why I did it. I did it bc I was jealous of him that I couldn’t quit. Bc I wasn’t strong. Honest to god. Now you all can smoke in front of me. I am over it--YAY

And you know what the best feeling is ? Being able to write this email to you. To hope I can change your mind. I was a bigger smoker than you. You can do this. It is the one thing I am most proud of. Quit .

Best,
nancy

Re: Need some support..........

Denise,

I know its one of the hardest things you'll ever do, my FH just quit (he's been smoking since he was 13).

He put his mind to it and tried cold turkey, but that lasted 3 days.

He then was referred to the COMMIT tablets & they've worked wonders! He stopped the first week in January & had one slip-up since, but truly has not cheated (except that one time). He said he has no desire to smoke & at first the tablets were hard (bad taste, made him hiccup) but he stuck to it & he's so much happier.

I really recommend them. He has another 2 weeks on them & then should be good to go.

Good luck!

Re: Need some support..........

Okay so this is going to sound like weird science, but I heard about a procedure to stop your brain from craving cigarettes. My cousin said that her friend had a laser aimed into his ear and I assume it shut off that craving center in his brain. He hasn't smoked since.
LOL, I feel like an idiot bringing this one up, but I'm kind of curious- has anyone heard of it?
