Very nice!

Thank you!
I melted the tissue paper right into the candle! I searched high and low for the 'right size' candle. (I think I was a little particular) and I only found the size I liked in Pier 1. I think the candle was a little higher quality and slower burning, so it took a bit longer than 5 minutes to melt, but I'm very pleased with how it came out!

Mines a DIY - I had to reduce the quality of the image to post it here, but I have 2 other pics in my DIY album! It's pretty quick and easy.
Yours came out great!!!

You know at the edges where the paper tissue ends, is it noticeably visible? Is that why it's covered with ribbon or is the ribbon just there because you guys wanted it there?
I'm just asking because I may not use ribbon if I do this.
Thanks!!

While we are onthe topic of the unity candle, I picked one up from michaels, basic white candles, do I need a stand for these ? Or can we just put it right on the table? Do the two side candles have to stand up too? Or they are just to light the center?

No not at all. I just put the ribbon bc I wanted it there. You cut the tissue paper around the decal. So it doesnt even reach the part of the candle with the ribbon. Its just for decoration on mine. You can totally do it without the ribbon. And you wont see the tissue paper outline when you heat the candle bc it dissolves.

You don't have to have one but you do need one for the little candles bc they are lit and then the two of you use them to light the unity candle together. So they would prob fall over if they werent in a holder. HTH

Re: Need some Unity Candle inspiration!
This may be a dumb question but are the candle ceremonies only for a mass or just a ceremony? I'm only doing a ceremony at my church so I wasn't sure if I was able to do this or not.

If I would be doing my ceremony @ the rception hall, would I need to have a unity candle or is it just for church ceremonies?

THIS IS FROM MY ORIGINAL POST.....IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FEEL FREE TO ASK!
FOR ALL YOU WHO WANTED TO KNOW HOW I MADE THIS:
SO I bought candles from Michaels. In Microsoft word I just made the writing and I copied the heart from searching google images--- hearts lol I then took a piece of regular printer paper and a piece of tissue paper (yes the ones you put in presents) and used scrapbooking tape. I put a little bit on the end on the printer paper and fastend the tissue paper to the reg paper. Dont put too much bc you have to take it off. This just helps the tissue paper have more support. Run it through the printer.
After your done pull the tissue paper off the printer paper. Dont worry if it tears. Then with sissors, cut around the wording. Doesnt have to be perfect and you'll see why. Then lay the cutout on the candle. Once you have it placed where you want it, take a piece of wax paper and wrap it around the candle. It is smart to make the wax paper bigger than the candle so it bunches in the back. It just serves as a handle for the support. Then take a hair dryer and heat the cutout. Be sure to more the heat around. The heat will actually start to melt the candle and tissue paper as it dissolves into the candle. You will notice the cutout will start to get shinny when that happens it is melted enough. Slowly lift the wax paper off the candle to see if the tissue paper is completely dissolved, if it is just rub the tissue paper over the top to smooth everything out.
Once, thats done just add ribbon and whatever else you want.
I know it sounds a lot more complicated than it is, but its soooo easy. I just googled it last night and then tried it today.
I also saw some chick you those rub on scrapbooking transfers. That look really easy but I couldnt find any with a good saying
Here are a couple different videos I looked at. HTH and some of you try it yourself bc I was really fun!

Re: Need some Unity Candle inspiration!
OH YEAH! One more question... does the writing or picture you have on your candle look faded or dulled out because of the wax on it? I can't tell so much from the pictures.
