need ur opinion girls

ok my mom had a stroke 2 yrs ago that left her with some paralysis on her right side..she can walk slowly with the use of a cane but long distance is a def no..so here is my question,i really wanted her to walk with me and my dad down the aisle but its too much for her so if when we got to the 3 or fourth pew she just got up and joined us would that be stupid? and the second part..when they call the parents in at the reception she cannot make that walk to the seat or at least not fast so she does not want to so my options are putting her in her wheelchair(whihch she hates)or when they announce the brides parenst just put a spotlight on her and my dad from the seats?..any opinion i would appreciate..tia

I don't think there is anything wrong with your mom joining you and your dad at the 3rd or 4th pew.
As for the reception, the spotlight would be fine. Or if your parents have a good sense of humor...your dad could wheel her out in the wheelchair like you said and spin her in a cute way. But since you said she hates the wheelchair, the spotlight would be good!

Have you talked to her and your dad to see what they would like to do? That could help you with some ideas too.

I think having your mom meet you and your dad close to the alter is fine. Its really nice actually.
For the reception..could you parents walk out to the dance floor from their seats and then the DJ could put a spot on them?

Hi! I can relate sorta... my mom has MS and has been in a chair my whole life- its been a real struggle to make her feel comfortable about the whole wedding thing... even though she's had it for so long, I guess she never imagined having to be in 'the chair' for her daughter's wedding.

that being said- I've also been figuring out ways to make her feel comfortable but have her be part of as much as she should be as the MOB.

In your situation- I love the idea of her getting up in the 4th Pew. It gives you a special moment with your father and then BOTH of your parents get to 'give you away' so to speak. As far as the entrance- I see no reason why you couldn't have the spotlight on them at their announcement- I would recommend doing both sets of parents that way though.

for example- my bridal party, myself, and FH are walking down a grand staircase into RH- but both sets of parents and grandparents are coming in from a side entrance on the same level. It won't single them out that way.

Another thing that has kinda gotten me through all this- most of the people at your wedding are people who know and love you. Its not like they don't know the pre-existing situation. Noone is going to expect your mother (or mine) to get up and do the electric slide with everyone. We just have to remember how truly blessed we are that they are here to share our special day with us.

I think meeting her at the 3rd or 4th pew is perfect, and you could do the spotlight or even just ask your parents to stand up from their seats when they announce them.....There's no special way these things have to be done, so changing some things to make it easier for you and your parents is just fine
