Need your expertise

I need to know if vvs2 color g is a good diamond. We are getting a different diamond b/c original was from mother in law and since she has passed we want to preserve it and one day give it to our daughter. The stone is a princess cut and the price was around 15k. I am out of touch with all of this vv1 and s1 and vs2 ugh so I need your help desperately.

I believe its a good quality diamond. It fits into the Tiffany's cut off points for diamond measures, if that helps... I can't help you with the price though

It's probably a matter of opinion, but to me that sounds like a great clarity and color!

VVS2 is EXCELLENT for Clarity. G is also good for color, it is considered near colorless, you should not detect any color unless you put it right next to a colorless diamond. Please remember that a diamond could be of great color and great clarity and still be a dud if it is not cut correctly. Make sure your table and depth pecentages are on point. A good site to learn about diamonds is www.goodoldgold.com. I don't know what the proper numbers are for a princess cut, but I do know that the cut is most important in determining if a diamond is brilliant or not.

Duh that would help, its 2.01 karats. I guess that means just 2 karats.

get it appraised. I can forum mail you my cost & aprraisal price if you like. Although my ring costed alot, we were extremely happy with the appraisal.

I have to agree with EvenEdan. The cut makes a big difference too, especially in the sparkle of the diamond.

Hmm I think the jeweler said brilliant cut and instead of carbons it had crystals. I hope Im making sense and answering correctly. I remember the certification was GIA but I understand there are many. We put the diamond on a white surface and omg the colors, it was like a rainbow and cuts everywhere I was getting dizzy looking through the loupes- I was trying real hard to find an inclusion and I couldnt. The certificate showed one little spot on it.

I am like an expert in this field.... D is the best. G is still awesome! D-H is in the field of colorless and VVS category in my opinion in awesome. Very few people have D's (Jenn- very jealous) and Flawless. To gived you an idea in quality, I have a pretty large diamond (3.35 carats, SI1, I colored) and it is NOT worth to stores (although I absolutely love it ) 15K. To me, it is worth so much more!!! So to answer your question you have a great quality diamond! Yeah!

He saved for a while for what I have, but I, like you, would love the ring no matter what. Yours don't sound too shabby either! !!!
