I did, and the first time we registered I kept fighting with FH about things to put on, then we went back bc FH wasn't happy that we skimped out on the list, he said this was our wish list, and is not putting anyone in a position to buy these expensive things for us...its a wish list..we have some normal priced things and some wishful hopeful things we want

We just started our registry and wanted a cappuccino/espresso machine but the one we want is too expensive.
i had put a cheaper one on mine but changed it to the more expensive one and i use it SO much that it was worth it.

I felt really guilty about putting expensive stuff on the registry but my mother felt that our stuff was not expensive enough So we registered for it all: Dyson vacuum cleaner All Clad King sized bedding The biggest Kitchenaid mixer luggage. We've actually gotten most of it....still biting my nails on the mixer. I think we'll buy ourselves that one.
Us too! Must be the weekend
The only thing we didn't get that we wanted was the Dyson Vacuum. I guess people couldn't justify spending that kind of money knowing the only bit of carpet in our home is our 6 x 8 rug! (Which by the way we registered for as well but ended up buying for ourselves when it went on sale)
We thought people would think we were nuts about the stuff we registered for. We even registered for a $250 rotiserry that my mom's friend bought for us. We got all our china and crystal which will sit in my mom's basement until we buy a home. My mom bought us all our pots and pans, his mom bought us all our luggage. Both our moms bought all our bedding for my shower. We both have VERY generous families and our parents' friends are VERY generous as well. FH's mom's best friend bought us our stand mixer as an engagement gift and for my shower bought me the pasta attachment.
Our thoughts were that whever we don't get, we will just end up buying for ourselves with the completion program or ask for from our families for future gifts (anniversary, birthdays, chanukah, etc.)

Re: Need your help please.
I really wanted crystal from Baccarat and good silver flatware. They were just too expensive and we decided we would rather get our dishes. I did register for four Nambe crystal wine glasses though!
On the high end, we did register for the KitchenAid Mixer in pistachio (I love it and use it almost every week - engagement pres from FILs), a Cuisanart and a Dyson.

Yes- a calvin Klein comforter. I don't even remember how much it was, but thought no one would pay that much for bedding, so we probably wouldn't get it.

- Svarorski Flutes - Kitchen Aid 6-Quart Stand Mixer (registered for the 4-1/2 quart instead) - All-Clad Stainless Pots & Pans (registered for Calphalon instead) - $150 Lenox place setting, registered for $89.99 Wedgewood setting instead
I think I compromised on some items because I felt I couldn't ask people to spend that much money - or I didn't want a ton of people to chip in for just one thing when FH & I needed so much of everything (we don't live together yet, we don't even have a fork or plate between us)
Ditto on the Kitchen Aid 6-Quart Stand Mixer! I wanted it but thought it was too expensive to ask for. Also, I have the general feeling that if you ask for an item that's too expensive (i.e., a $79.00 sugar bowl) people will be offended to an extent and will get you a gift certificate for substantially less. FH and I need many things so I'm trying to keep requests reasonable. Also, I picked a really, really pretty 'casual' Lenox china pattern as opposed to a formal one because it's less expensive.

Posted by LIWeddings NYCityWeddings Please be serious. Not looking for things like a house or 12 thousand dollar plasma screen. TIA!
well a house or 12k plasma would be nice..
how about a 3k-5k plasma or flat screen tv?
we already own a ton of stuff since we lived together forever (6yrs) ... maybe i just put 1 item on there and everybody can chip in

Re: Need your help please.
FH had me take off the sheets and towels. they were from Williams Sonoma home and proly about $150 for sheets. towels were very $$ too.
for everything else we made sure we had a lot of small items to balance the more expensive ones. we left on 2 pieces of luggage from Swiss Army, he didn't want to-again too pricey but i say its a wish list, and so we left it.

Re: Need your help please.
Actually no, I put the $1200 stainless grill DH wanted on our Fortunoff registry (although, I ended up buying it for him) and put a $700 dresser on our PB registry (which we ended up buying for $219 at the PB Outlet in Riverhead).

i wanted the stainless kitchen aid stand-up mixer but figured it was too expensive (at least for the amount of times I would use it)
I wanted this too but thought the same thing so I did not register for it.
Ditto! I would love one but they are pricey!

No, I put everything I wanted on and figured some people would chip in and give the expensive gifts.
My MIL bought the Kitchen Aid mixer (which I love and use all the time!)
My uncle bought the Henkels knife set and steak knife set.
Some friends chipped in for the expensive duvet/pillow/sheet set we wanted and the pieces we didn't get we got for 10% off when we completed the registry.

I didn't pick the china pattern I really wanted because I thought it was too expensive. So we settled on a different one which was more reasonable.

Me too!!!
Also we didn't register for china, it just seemed too expensive for the amount of times we'd end up using it.
