Need your help please.

Original post by LIWeddings

We are having a debate in the office and need your help. Please respond with the following. Do you have an item that you neglected to put on your registry or mention to someone because you thought it was too expensive? If so, what is it? Please be serious. Not looking for things like a house or 12 thousand dollar plasma screen. TIA!

I haven't done my registry yet, but I will put some more expensive items on it because some people do like to chip in and get a larger group gift.

Honestly there was a formal china set that I LOVED but I was not going to ask people to page that per setting. So I registered for a cheaper one. Also there were a few appliances, that we just didn't do for that reason.

i wanted the stainless kitchen aid stand-up mixer but figured it was too expensive (at least for the amount of times I would use it)

i registered for a $250 mixer, but i always think people must be thinking i'm a nut when they see it on my registry.

for the longest time I didnt put my kitchen aid mixer on there, feeling that $250 was too much, but then i caved since i realized i wouldnt spend the money myself

I thought about Waterford crystal, but went with something less expensive.

A Dyson vacuum...and I really really want one!

I would love that... But would never register for it.
I keep in mind that our family and friends don't have a fortune to spend on us and I don't want the family to over do it just because we put it there. So a lot of things are not on the registries even though we wanted them.

Nope I put it on- I just thought of those $$$ itmes as my wish list if I get it great if I dont thats ok- and yes at fortunoff I put down for a $500 vaccum and $900 plasma tv!!! I didnt hold back at all. My china is super duper expensive too, and my registry at BBB is about 10 pages, lol hope that helps.

We wanted a $500 vaccuum and then decided against it, fearing people would think we were nuts. We ended up registering for a significantly cheaper one.

I fell in love with both Armani and Iladro bride/groom figurines, as well as the swarovski flutes, but feel bad asking for any of them!

We really wanted the expensive Wusthof knives too - but just registered for the 2 piece carving set (which we just got with the completion discount).

I second guessed a lot of things - and was right about a few. I was surprised we received a lot of our china place settings, but I knew we wouldn't get the matching serving pieces or our silver flatware.

I would have also registered for Waterford instead of Lenox for our crystal. Beautiful - but pricey!

Fine china and silverware. We did register for everyday stuff though.

Same here...we didn't register for the good stuff...#1 because it's so expensive and #2 because we lived in an apt at the time and would have had no room for it...and thought when we got a house, who knows if we'd still like that pattern.

the only thing i didn't get off my crate & barrel was a wooden cart for the kitchen
it turns out by boss is getting me the wusthoff set i registered for - will be returning it (i would up getting them at homegoods) and getting the cart!

i already had an apt. for 10 yrs. in the city so i didn't need too much -

Yes - a big screen tv and a barbecue/grill. Both were $1000 or more and I just thought it was outrageous to include them because nobody was going to spend that much, so having them think we expected such a thing would make us look ridiculous (in our opinion).

My cousin registered for china which was $450/plate. My thought was, come one - even if people chip in to get you that, you are going to open ONE place setting at your shower from 4 people? And hope to get all 12? Please.
