Ok ladies, FH is not being ANY help in this situation, so I come to you for opinions. We have about a two hour time gap between leaving the church and being allowed in the NRC. My ceremony starts at 3, and since it's only a ceremony (no mass), after a receiving line and pictures, we'll be out around 4:00-4:15. We aren't allowed in NRC until 6:00 at the earliest. My CH starts at 7:30.
I'm trying to figure out what to do in between. FH says it's completely up to me, and that if it were up to him he'd come home and play video games I told him that's not happening because I'd never get him back out of the house after.
So here are my options:
Pictures at Old Westbury Gardens - gorgeous, but expensive
Pictures at the Restored Nunley's Carousel at Museum Row - I don't know yet if we can actually do this or how much it would cost, but I have an e-mail in asking about it. I thought this would be cool because we both LOVED Nunley's when we were kids.
Relax at My Sister's House - My sister has a HUGE and gorgeous home in Muttontown, only about a mile away from NRC. When I say huge, I mean her Christmas tree was 10 feet tall and it looked small in her foyer I could ask her if she'd open it up to parents and BP so we could go hang out there for a bit and have some cocktails and just relax. And take some pictures. Oh....and it would be FREE
What do you think????
ETA: to clarify - We are doing pics at church, and at NRC (as we have an hour and a half before CH starts). I could still have the photographers come to my sister's house as well, and we could definitely do some pics there, but it's probably be much more relaxed for everyone.

i say OWG, i dont know about that nunsley one, but the pics ive seen from OWG are AMAZINGGGGGGGG the grounds are absolutely stunning, if youre on a tight budget then i would say go for your sisters house but if not its your wedding and you should have a gorgeous backdrop for your pics!! thats all you have left after the wedding is over so i always tell people to splurge on that at least and skimp out elsewhere

I say go to ur sister's. U can't beat free! Lol It just to me like the best and most convenient option: its close to NRC, plenty of room to relax. Sounds great.

I voted sister's mansion bc I think that's AWESOME!!! However if you do that how do you plan on doing pics? Only at the Church and NRC? I think that is a fine idea if so I was just curious if that's what you had in mind.
PS I might have to crash the VIP party at the sis's house just to see it!

Okay I LOVE OWG and we are booked there for our pics but that's because we're not taking pics at JT really. Since you are taking pics at NRC for an hour and a half and I know the grounds are very pretty there, I think your sister's house sounds like the best option. It also sounds awesome lol!

I voted your sisters house, because it will be more relaxed and with the relaxed feel you can get more fun pics with you and your FH and your BP, plus its free

if your sister is willing to let you use her house i vote for that! Why not save some money and be somewhere that is more comfortable!

i am very torn b/c i love nunleys as i kid. (I still talk about the bumber cars to this very day). But I think the carosel might be dirty. (could be wrong) so even though it would be amazing you dont want to be dirty. You could do it there for a trash your dress shoot after the wedding.
OWG is gorg and your sisters house sounds beautiful. So you can take pics at both places and will be amazing I am sure. And since you are also taking photos at NRC you will have so many!
So basically i am torn and this probably wasn't very helpful.

I haven't been on the grounds of the NRC - I would say that if you love the grounds and don't have a need to have more pretty landscape photos, then go to your sister's house or Nunley's. I don't think you should pay more for OWG if you're going to have pretty flowers, etc. at your catering hall for no extra money. I think Nunley's carousel would be really unique!
You probably know yourself and FH best as to whether you'd want to chill or be on the go between the two. I tend to be an impatient and anxious person, so the thought of waiting around in someone's house would probably kill me - best for me to keep super busy during the break to get my mind off of everything!

ur sisters house is free.. but u can always take pix there.. u can put urd ress on again and do day after shots... same with the carousel.
owg is sooo nice esp with all ur bp there.

How many people would they let you bring if you took pictures at OWG? Would guests not in the pictures be allowed to walk around the grounds? I was just going to let guests fend for themselves between our 3PM mass and the 7PM reception. So, I think it's great to do any of those options.
