Did you negotiate at every place or just where you made your final choice? How much less did you get it? What did they throw in for free?

I tried to bring the price down per person but that didn't happen. Instead they gave me a free ice sculpture, chocolate fountain and a beautiful champagne tree for guests who arrive early. I wasn't too upset because I already thought the price was good so I was glad to have the free stuff

Just the final place if I remember correctly. They had also let us know the more people we can guarantee the more room we have to negotiate. We told them the price we want to pay and they gave it to us. They gave us a whole bunch of extra options for cocktail hour, added a adult milk shake option for dessert, and when everyone leaves they get a hot NY pretzel. There may have been something else but off the top of my head that's all that I can remember

We attempted to negotiate at our top two places during our 2nd visits to each. Our venue wasn't willing to budge on price or minimum, but added on extras like exit cart, pasta course, painter's palate intermezzo, and an ice cream bar with dessert! Jericho Terrace went down a couple dollars per person but nothing crazy.

I negotiated 3 times. I got my tax removed (that was a huge fight) got one extra station tossed in got 1/2 off vieneesse (however you spell it lol) hour and lastly $15 off per person. I pretty much badgered them until they gave me what I wanted

That's huge!! Do you have a high guest minimum?

Nope. We have a 130 minimum

Wowzers that's amazing. Did you girls tell the venue what you were looking to spend around?

I raised my minimum by 50 people and I got off $10 pp by doing that. They also threw in Viennese trays on the table. Also, since I booked this month, I'm getting 10% back in what I am paying and I can use that towards upgrades.

We only did when we decided on a venue, and didn't tell them what we were willing to spend in case we could get them lower than that. They came down $10 pp/threw in a martini/vodka bar into the mix, and we got a little hook up with Francesco's. It also helped that FH and his dad knew some people there. So if you know someone, or a friend that got married there, it def helps to throw their name around. Especially if you say you knew you wanted to get married there after attending so and so's wedding. I found they offered to do something extra most of the time. Lol

Only at the place we booked. FH's cousin did the negotiating for us since she got married there 5 years ago and knew the owners from when she was a dancer for DJ companies. We got $10 off pp, a Peter Luger station thrown in at cocktail hour, $2 off pp for the dessert package we chose and passed zeppoles during dessert. Plus he gave us a 100 person minimum.

My ex negotiated everything for our wedding, all vendors. We paid cash to our photographer and band and reduced the price significantly.

Negotiate everything I mean everything. Don't feel embarassed or ashamed. This is your money and CASH is KING.

I got every single extra amenity my hall offers included in the price except lobster. Ceremony, VH, Centerpieces (yes I said Centerpieces lol), signature bar, ice sculpture, you name it I got it. Took me over 2 months of negotiating I laid my cards on the table of a price I wanted to pay and I go everything I wanted plus so much more. Certain things to keep in mind. I'm having a Sunday wedding in the low season. Be firm whatever they give you try and take off $15pp w that price.

I didn't negotiate at all but my venue includes so much already that you girls got thrown in, plus they were having a deal when we booked which took off $15pp

I negotiated them down $15pp off the top. Over the last few months, I have gotten them to throw in extra stuff during the cocktail hour, a signature drink menu, etc. I still have a few more months of negotiations left before the menu, but I am determined to get exactly what I want.

tell me something, is it possible to negotiate after signing? We didn't get anything for free...just got $6 off p/p for Viennese hour, and extended it to full extra hour. But we're still paying 12 p/p extra for it. I'm a HORRIBLE negotiator, my course of action is to be open and honest and hope they don't take me for a ride.

We negotiated will all our vendors and managed to either get no tax or some freebies thrown in. Can't hurt to ask!

We didn't negotiate with our final venue. We were getting so much already, some of the things mentioned here come in our package (trays of cookies and pastries with dessert, ice sculpture). We did get the ceremony site fee waived, though that was offered to us by the person we're working with($350).
