Negotiating Tips!

Please share your best negotiating tip and/or and example of something you were able to negotiate with a vendor and how you pulled it off. Are there things that are always negotiable? never negotiable? PLEASE share!

The best way we found was to shop around, and then ask if they can throw things in that other companies have in their packages, or to look at their list of extras, and try to swap things that we do want for things that may not be as important.
Also, some companies offer discounts to police and firefighters, (my fi is a cop) so I would ask everyone if they did that too. (If they didn't nobody wanted to look bad, so they would make one up, usually).

Ask them if you can save tax if you pay cash.

Ask them if they can throw in something extra if you combine the pasta/salad course.

Tell them you were offered certain things by other vendors and see if they'll do the same and they almost always come up with something better to compete with your business.

Remind them how much business your giving them and ask for quantity discounts on things like favors, invitations and floral arrangements.

Tell them thanks but so and so is offering a better price for the same thing and they almost always beat the other vendors price.
