Negotiation process

Negotiation process

I found a place I really love to have our wedding. The problem is I think its a little bit more than we wanted to spend and we arent sure if we will make the minimum gurantee. What kind of leverage do I have? How negotiable is the per person price or will places drop their gurantee number? What tactics have people used? reply or FM me! I even put down a deposit to hold the date for a week as i figure out the finances.

Thanks,
Amy

typically you go there meet up with them and say well what can i do to get this price down so i can book here. If they don't move for you then you may need to change the day or the time of year.

they are usually more open for negotiations if you haven't given them a downpayment. express that you really like their facility but the price is not exactly matching your budget... they'll work with you from there.

Talk to the owner/banquet manager. Tell them you really love the place/room, but you can only guarantee a lower amount than what they want. As for pricing, alot of places will charge 20 extra pp just for a saturday night wedding, Sunday or friday is way more reasonable. If they havent thrown anything in for you, sign in the contract for what they offer (cocktail hour, dinner for example) then in a few months go in and ask them about adding stuff. The closer it gets to the date the more money they will want to make, so you may get a better deal..If thats where you want your wedding and you make it known, they will accomodate you.

We tried to negotiate so many places.... and had bad luck with our original date 6/7/08 BUT we changed to march and found halls were so much more accomodating and decided on a sunday eve instead of sat.... Good luck though let us know how it goes!! It never hurts to ask...

I don't think you should have any problem trying to lower the price. THe question is how much were you hoping to lower it? If it is completely out of your price range maybe you could change the day of the week you are getting married?

Re: Negotiation process

We negotiated by being flexible and also...booking 7 months before our actual wedding!! If you give them lots of notice like a year or more they are most likely not going to work with you, because they still have a big chance they can book that date for the full price....so save your money first then book 7 months prior. We did it and we saved ALOT!!!!

I negotiated just about everything for the wedding. The key was to being flexible with your dates and asking. I would go in and take a tour and talk to them and then tell them what I was looking for. When it came down to pricing, once they gave it to me, I would tell them how much I liked the place but it seemd a little high and if they can do better.
