Nervous about CH

Nervous about CH

We're having a destination wedding in FL, and they do things quite differently down there. They don't have the huge cocktail hours that NYers are used to. We're having one or two 'displays' and continuous passed hors dourves (baby lamp chops, crab cakes, beef wellington, curry chicken skewers etc). But no stations etc like a NY wedding. All of our guests are from NY and I'm justt geting nervous that they are going to think we're 'cheap' b/c of the CH....that's just how things are done down there. EEK.

It's so annoying how now I'm a lil stressball...

Just needed to get that out.....

It will work out and be beautiful. It sounds like you will have lots of fun. Don't worry. It will be a great day.

Don't worry about it. People aren't expecting to get the overload they get here in New York.

It will be beautiful!

awww don't feel bad, most of us NY'ers know its just different in other states and you didnt even have the option of doing CH the way it is here. I went to a wedding in florida and it was the same for CH, they only had a station with cheese and crackers and also fruit, and passed hors dourves. My reaction was just that WOW look how different weddings are in florida not that they were cheap, i knew she had alot of money and knew if they had other options they would've gone with that. We still had an amazing time

don't feel bad.. NYers are just go overboard on everything.. I went to a wedding in SC last year.. and they had an ice carving with an array of different fruits and passed hors dourves - it was great.. it was very different and truly enjoyed it!! so don't worry.. everyone will enjoy CH and your wedding will be beautiful!!

We went to a wedding in Vegas last year and the cocktail hour was not like a typical NY wedding- but it was still nice and we enjoyed it. Some of our friends even commented it was nicer not too have sooo much food- all the guests were from NY. I wouldnt worry- your guests are coming a long way to be with you- that shows how much they care & the last thing that they will worry about is the cocktail hour

i agree. no one will think that.

just think people might actual be able to fit and enjoy their dinner! its just SOOOOOOO much food here....ch is like buffet style dinner. ibut like other people have said i think guests know that its diff here than it is elsewhere.

We had the basic package which still went over 100 $ and the CH was only hot and cold hors dourves (can't remeber if there was a display). I just added a bellydancer in the middle of the CH. Everyone still talks about how nice and beautiful my wedding was, or so I hear from others (even LI Wedding brides I've just met that happen to be friends/relatives of my guests). Maybe so you can feel better you can incorporate something into the cocktail hour. Maybe cigar rollers, or anything that deals with your heritage. If not, don't worry everything will be fine.

Re: Nervous about CH

i just remembered that we went to a wedding NJ and the CH was very similair to what you described for your wedding and i dont remember thinking anything strange about it - and none of the guests (majority NYers) had anything negative to say about it....i didnt think the wedding was any less nice because there wasnt a ton of stations - to be honest it just came to my head now as i was re-reading your post and thinking about all the weddings ive been too....

dont be nervous, we got married upstate and they too dont do over the top CHs and our CH was held in the same room as our reception but everyone had a great time, ate lots of food and our elderly guest loved the one room cuz they could sit down comfortably. not one LI person said anything negative about any of it
