Well, we are in contract and the apprasial went well, the mortgage people are moving right along and the title has been ordered.
I am nervous that we will not be able to do this, expences, upkeep, ect. of owning a home..
Im so excited and I cant wait to move in, but I also cant help these feelings.. At least in the apartment I know we can handle it..
Did anyone else feel this way?

Re: Nervous feelings as we get closer to closing
Suzanne, don't you worry your little head... These things run through everyone's head, even those people who've owned homes for years.
I didn't let it bother me because we were planning the wedding at the same time. I let John worry about that stuff, lol.
What bothered me this year, was cutting back on Christmas gifts. Not because we couldnt' afford it, but because I know what is more important now and I felt guilty! It's just a whole new life to get adjusted to!
As for the upkeeping, it's a lot of work, but it keeps you busy, that's for sure! When people call me they laugh, because I'm either dusting, cleaning the floors, or doing laundry, I'm never JUST sitting, God, I miss those days!
Good luck! It all works out!

Re: Nervous feelings as we get closer to closing
I do all the time. We of course still have not moved in but I am sending our first mortgage payment this week and it is nerve racking and as we are buying furniture and money seems to be flying out the window right now I know it will calm down and we ran our numbers and bought within a range we can afford.
For awhile you will just have to watch your spending and join us in the coupon club. I save a ton of money every week at the store (and my hubby can eat!)
You will be fine. And as time goes on it will get easier. It is just going to take some adjusting to

Thanks Ladies, im glad to know that im not alone.
I am trying to cut back on the christmas gifts this year and its soooo hard. And i DEFINATLY have to join the coupon club, I never ever cut coupons before.
I am a compulsive shopper.. so its been so hard to try to stop spending.
Thank you for your posts girls, you will probably never know how much they have made me feel better.

Suzanne I am sure that you and DH have planned carefully and you didnt get in over your head. The first year or so is usually a little tight because of all the stuff you need to just get into the house. It will all work out. You will be surprised at how much your spending habits can change.

You are so right you are very lucky that you found a wonderful home! But your nervous feelings are very normal!! My best advice is enjoy your home and take everything in steps. I know I have to calm down DH all the time (he gets worse than I do). Home ownership has been a little bit overwhelming for us and there is so much you want to do and all these ideas running thru your head..but yet only so much money and so much time to do it. But as much as there is all that, there is nothing like building a home for your furture!

As much as I wanted not to stress, I still did. Sometimes I still do! It's a huge time in your life and of course that is coming with major adjustments.. but you will be fine! We're in the house now a year and I have already seen so much change, from priorities to spending habits. You'll see what is really worth the buck to you now. Don't worry hon, someone told me that they didn't know how they were going to do it either and that it all works out... and somehow it does! My NY's resolution is to join the coupon club!

Don't worry Suzanne ... first off, I am so happy for you ... secondly, your feelings are definitely normal. We felt that way at first too ... money is always so tight in the begining and that's especially when you are questioning your decision ... but then as time goes by, it does get easier.

Suzanne - what you are feeling is so normal. Everyone has those same feelings and doubts, but don't worry, everything will be fine. Once you get into your new home and start enjoying it these feeling with fade.
