Nervous, scared, I got the word of Layoff in JFK

FI got the word today that JFK needs to layoff 396 TSA employees. JFK got the word from the government today, they are the number 1 airport that needs to do this. In the meeting he was told that if he puts in for a transfer to an airport that is hurting he'll get it and it will happen anytime between now and Sept 1.

He's going 8am to HR and putting in for the transfer to Sarasota airport because they are desperate for people. So as of tomorrow his paperwork is in for the transfer and it will happen. (Sarasota is 30 min from where we will be)

I am so nervous. He'll get approved for the transfer and the government will pay for the move. I am happy about the gov't will pay for the move, nervous of these talks (I've been through 2 waves of it when I was with American Express) and anxious about moving to Florida.

I'll know more tomorrow when he gets home from HR. I'll post as I know info

Jenn: we dont have a set plan of action but once the ok for the transfer comes in he is going to go first. He'll go down live with tim and grace and I'll square things off up here. Since we have a joint checking account he is going to have some funds of his check get deposited into our account this way I'll have money up here for things.

(we are not paying rent, long story but the landlord is a shmuck and their is a list of things he has to fix before any rent can be paid. Its been 8 months and he hasn't done a thing on that list that was ordered by the court. So we dont pay rent until everything on that list is done)

After things get squared off up here, then I'll go down.

I have no idea when he would get laid off IF he was too. I think its something we dont want to think about.

His aunt is a teachers aid and she is going to get layed off.

I couldn't believe it when I read the layoffs in the newspapers! I mean we need these people - it's unbelievable and so unfair.
I hope everything works out for you and your DH.

Thank you everyone. With everyone's fingers crossed and prayers I am positive something good will come of all of this.

Februarybride i couldnt agree with you more. They are working under homeland security which is something we need.

I was watching the news beyond NY and a bomb was found in some small airport in Idaho and who spotted it, a TSA agent. All was handled and no one was hurt.

I wish he would just get home already.
