Re: NERVOUS STOMACH'S

Grrr. All the freaking time! Depends on what you mean by nervous stomach. I have acid reflux disease which can get really bad when I'm stressing or upset for any reason. LOL didn't have it before i met have FH. What symptoms are you having?

Re: NERVOUS STOMACH'S

I do! I do! My wedding is this week and since yesterday my stomach has been doing its thing. I'm restricting my diet to plain foods -- bagels, turkey sandwiches. As of today, I'm not eating anything that could possibly set me off. I'll be stocking up on Tums and Immodium the day of the wedding, just in case!

Re: NERVOUS STOMACH'S

Amy,

I have Acid Reflux too. OMG, isn't it the worst? I've been okay for a few years now ... I just know what foods to stay away from. But, I can imagine the stress of planning might aggravate it.

Soon,

Do you have Calidits or IBS? My sister has Caliditis and I think she made it through her wedding without any serious problems. I'll ask her if she did anything special to make it through the day.

Re: NERVOUS STOMACH'S

'nervous stomach' If you mean what i think you mean.. what a nice way to say that!
The answer is yes I do have that problem.
I planning on taking Amodium preventively the morning of the wedding and avoiding grease and dairy.

Wow, that's a triple threat. Maybe you can consult your doctor. I'm sure you can go on a specific diet regimen closer to the wedding to prepare your stomach for the day. Also, maybe just try to do things to ease the anxiety and stress. Spa treatment, bubble baths, chamomile tea ... around a week before the wedding and make sure that all your 'last minute' things are done in advance so you have less to stress about.

Re: NERVOUS STOMACH'S

I planned my wedding later in the day to help offset my stomach issues too, since they always seem worse in the morning. Hopefully any flare ups will occur early enough as to not interferre with getting ready, so that once I'm dressed, I'll be good for the day.

My fingers are crossed!

Re: NERVOUS STOMACH'S

I was just this weekend at the doctor... I had been diagnosed a few weeks ago with reflux... Nexium seemed to improve the symptoms and with that the tummy probs have lessened. Even so he is sending me to an IBS specialist. He talked about one med you can take 3-4 times a day to help (WOW a lot of meds) Then he mentioned that some people take anti-depressants to help but they can also have the opposite effect plus can cause weight gain.

I think I personally keep tums and Immodium in bussiness!

Same here but I only officially have IBS so far My father has colitis though so there is a high chance of me having that someday.
I changed my diet a few months before. I bought these books Eating for IBS and The First Year IBS both by Heather Van Vorous. It has really helped me

It feels like your whole chest is going to collapse ! nexium doesn't help me.

These are foods you should stay away from before the wedding:

anything fried
anything salty
chocolate
ice cream
tomato sauce
oil and vinegar- I eat my salads plain now
anything that can ferment in your stomach and give you gas
too much soda
oranges
I find that eggplant really aggrivates my condition!

I have an ulcer as well as the ARD so this is what I do-

I avoid all foods that will/might upset my stomach

I take immodium/ Nexium

I drink lots of H2O (especially after I eat)

I avoid sugary foods and drinks

I try not to let myself get too stressed

I get plenty of sleep and try my damndest to relax my mind.

Yoga or a good run/walk help a ton !!!

Re: NERVOUS STOMACH'S

I can't believe how common this is. I have had Crohns for 20 years. Deal with it all the time. I really stinks and can hinder the day to day. I have a really good doc and I feel good most days. Stress is a major factor, not necessarily foods. I do Yoga, take my meds and deep breathing..that really helps. Try some meditation to calm your stomach. Music also helps. Hang in there.

Re: NERVOUS STOMACH'S

I was diagnosed with ARD back in 2001. It was so horrible, even mayonnaise gave me acid. I would cry myself to sleep becuase lying on my back would cause acid. At the time, Nexium hadn't been invented. I went on Prevacid, Aciphex and nothing worked until I went on Prilosec. A year and a half later, I was practically cured, given I stayed away from certain foods. Now, over 3 years later, I can ocassionally have orange juice and just recently can start spicing up my foods with garlic and other things that previously killed me. I'm surprised Nexium didn't work, but have your doctor try other meds. For me, it took 3 different kinds before it worked.

We should start a LIW stomach support group!
