Never do business with friends...vent!
We had our beach wedding last week and everything was perfect. Our friend and neighbor is a caterer so we hired him since we love his food and thought he was a stand up guy....we were quoted $65 per person plus $1400 for staff. The day after the wedding he tells us he made a mistake and the staff is double! He also was supposed to supply juices and mixers and it's on our bill, but the day of he had my hubby run to the store to buy everything but leaves it on the bill! AND he gave each server a $50 tip and puts it on our bill and says 'I hope you don't mind.' To top it all off, my neighbors said they were discussing how much of a gift to give us and he told them not to give much bc were only paying $65 a head....can you believe this unprofessionalism!? That didn't include alcohol, tent, rentals, band, etc....the caterer alone cost $100 pp after all was said and done! I'm so mad, especially since I really needed that extra $ this week because my cat was diagnosed with cancer and i spent a fortune at the vet
Thanks for the vent....had to get it out!!

WOW!!!! Really sorry to hear about what your friend did to you and your hubby. If you have a quote of $65pp, how is it that he can get away with charging an additional $35? Also the fact of your hubby purchasing the juices and mixers I would definitely deduct that from the bill. So sorry sweetie!

Wow that sucks! I would definitely not pay for the mixer that you had to buy, nor would I pay the extra gratuity unless that was outlined in the contract before hand. Even if he is a friend it sounds like he is trying to take advantage plus his comment to the people at your wedding was completely unprofessional.

I would confront him and read him the original contract he gave me. If there was a mistake made on his behalf he needs to cough it up. As far as him tipping the servers and adding it to your bill...that's a big problem. He should've allowed for you to make the call on the tip and not get involved, especially when dealing with other peoples money. After telling him where he did wrong and how unprofessional he is. I would leave the situation alone and cut all tides with him.

Wow! That's terrible! Did you have a contract that you can tell him sorry, but you agreed we only had to pay this price? I mean. Thats A LOT of extra cost all of a sudden!

That's awful. I would not let this go. I'd totally confront him and if you have a contract, read it and use it. You should not be paying for the mixers and he should not be telling you how much to tip people!Welcome New Vendors
