Re: I have been comparing myself to other brides lately...
The experience is different for everyone so I wouldn't 'compare' to others
It seems like you have a good outlook so far. We never had a really bad moment - some frustrating ones, but no major blowouts.
There will be bumps in the road, but it seems like you're handling them so far.
I hope the good luck stays with you! Keep it up and have fun with the planning...
This is from my review: When I got engaged, my boss said to me “if you realize that this wedding has little to do with you, things will go a lot easier” So, we took the advice to heart since they had been very happily married for over 30 years. We took the – “It’s about your friends and family joining you in a celebration” approach. And let me tell you, it was the best thing ever. Little things didn’t get to us, we didn’t ever fight, and mostly everyone recognized that we did things for them, not for us – and it was appreciated. Think of it this way, hardly anyone ever remembers their wedding, so you might as well make sure everyone else does and enjoys themselves!
And we also had a great time and remember a surprisingly large chunk of it!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted by shelly3950 Its great that you haven't had any major issues, but please be sensitive to the girls who have. You can talk about how happy you are things are going smoothly, and you will get a ton of support. But to compare yourself to the other brides here with whom things aren't going smoothly isn't very sensitive. JMO. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your reply: I was wishing them luck, how is that insensitive. I wasn't looking for support for myself but for the other women here. I was trying to be nice, but if people are going to tear apart what a person says, then forget it. Why bother. Ugh!
Fashionhag: I can see how you were just trying to get your opinion out there on how your planning is going, but I too think it was a little insensitive to just post a thread esentially stating that you have tiny problems, and so many other brides have big problems. The title of your post was not 'I want to thank you all' but rather 'I have been comparing myself to other brides lately.' Very interesting phraseology to describe your thanks. Just pointing out how it struck me-I'm sorry if you are somehow offended or hurt by the outcome of this thread.

LOL! I was wishing people good luck and praying that things work out for them. I don't think anyone reacted to what I actually posted, but rather they are reacting to what they think my post meant.
For example:Where do you get that I was thanking anyone or asking for anyone's opinion?
Re: I have been comparing myself to other brides lately...
I agree with Bunnymonkey. I am happy for you that you arent having major problems, in life and wedding planning that is a blessing but just think if you were having a major issue, maybe even tears in your eyes or worse, and then you read a post where someone is saying they arent having any glitches at all, it would hurt more.

Rephrase then: The title of your post was not 'I want to wish you all luck' but rather 'I have been comparing myself to other brides lately.' Very interesting phraseology to describe your wanting things to work out for others. -Same idea, I'm sorry I confused 'sending thanks' with 'wishing luck.'
I think some brides were offended by your post, regardless of what you intended to say. I think if anyone was to read the post and it's title, it is odvious that you are comparing your type of problems to others-as stated in the title of the post. If I was in the middle of hell a week before my wedding, and someone who's wedding was more than 6 months away posted something like this, I would shoot back with a very clear 'Just wait and see.' I don't think that's mean, I think it's honest. You are not in the thick of it yet, so you really can't say for sure that your time has been very low stress.
I am not attacking you, I just wish you would look at the original post again. I'm sorry your intention to send thanks came across as your need to talk about how little your problems have been.
