Me too! The water was calm at that time. Now my MOH dropped out, some family is refusing to come to the wedding, guest list is out of control, RSVPs are just starting to come. I finally trained my parents to say:
'whatever you want Michele'
'it's your wedding, whatever makes you happy'
'If that makes you happy, I'll be happy'

Oh my mother is doing that. At first I was upset, but not I just say no problemo. That is probably the worse thing that has occurred.

At this point, I've learned that its impossible to predict what problems will arise!!!

So far things are relatively calm since we're early in the game as well. But already I've seen things that I'm surprised at. I can only hope things remain calm throughout!!!

Hmm, that's true. And what are you gonna do, turn them away? Not likely. We are having children at our wedding so that is not an issue. What I am concerned with mostly is that my mother WILL somehow get an invitation ad show up and cause a scene. That's my biggest fear.

Actually I did wind up giving in on my Bridal shower. I didn't want one but people kind of got people annoyed with that so I just told my MOH to handle it. She knows what to do. And if people won't cooperate, I already told her to just cancel it.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but you are waaaaaaaaaaay in the beginning of your planning process. I, too, am paying for everything ourselves, but sh*t is inevitable. Things can happen with vendors, guests could be offended, and emergencies happen. There is not one bride out there who can say that they've had not one problem from beginning to end. Whether huge, or miniscule.

Actually, that being said, you're mom's behavior sounds like a problem to me - which doesn't make your whole process perfect.

Oh no, its not perfect nor did even mean o imply that. But it just seems that a lot of brides are having some MAJOR problems with people not being reliable and stuff. My issues have been very minor.

Wait, your mom isnt coming to the wedding? Why not? I dont think I could get married knowing my mom wouldnt be there. Not that we are the best of friends either (she drives me nuts) but I couldnt imagine her not being by my side for the happiest day of my life. I hope that works out for you!!
