I'm very lucky also because my future in-laws are being completely generous. They're covering several vendors and the reharsal dinner. We had a set number from them and we budgeted so that it would cover most things other than the hall and band. They also bought us the complete set of our China as an engagement gift. Unbelievable...:)

my family is paying for the reception. fh family gave a very nice gift which will cover everything else and the honeymoon.

Before I read your post I thought I was the only one. You are not the only one going throught this. I am so surprised by my Future in laws. In my opinion they seem totallu uninterested. We are getting married in July and we have yet to receive some financial or even supportive help.

The onlt way they helped was the rehersal dinner. Other than that they didn't even ask about the wedding

no mine are not helping at all. but i cannot blame them they are a bit older and they have knowone on there list of people to invite. They really dont know why we are even waiting so long. They keep saying 'we will be dead by the time you guys get married' but i do not take any offense I just dont think they know what they are talking about. If they knew how much we were spending on a wedding they would flip out. so better for them just to show up and complain about the food. LOL

remind me again why it is the bride's family who is supposed to pay for the weddding???? hello it is 2005!!!! I understand if it is financial but i dont think that is the reason for everyone.

My future MIL has offered to give us $1000.00. Did I mention her guest list supercedes my parents that has at least offered to give us 10 times the amount she offered.

Do not fret my pet. I have spent hours crying over the fact that my soon to be in laws are offering their help with their time, but are barely and I mean barely, doing much else. Your posting was such a blessing to me because I felt like it was just me. My father in law (soon to be) is paying for the honeymoon and my soon to be mother in law is paying for the limos. The rehearsal dinner is still up in the air. I think nowadays it is ocompletely common. I get along with my in laws, but they have always treated their son as a second class citizen. It is sad, but that's why they chose us! Best of luck in your planning.

MY FILs are paying for the Rehearsal Dinner and that's it. My parents are paying for EVERYTHING else.
Although, believe me, FMIL is constantly wanting to talk about wedding stuff, so it's not like she's 'uninterested.'

My FIL are great. They offered to help us as much as they could and have even done extra. They are so excited that everytime I see them they ask questions about the wedding. They want to do as much as they can.

My ILs were pretty generous. They gave us some money at our e-party (thrown by my parents), they bought us a new fridge and dishwasher as our shower gift as well as contributed a little to the shower cost and they gave us a large lump some towards the wedding. We were able to use that money for our band, photo/video and RD. Th money they gave us was really our wedding gift. If we had had a less expensive wedding we would have ben able to just put that money in the bank. Oh well, I still think it was money well spent.

They aren't giving us much. They are giving us the same thing they gave his brother when he got married. 12 years ago. In upstate NY. They are totally clueless. FH tells them how much things cost and they tell him that we are crazy, that we don't have to spend that much money. They have absolutely no idea what a LI wedding costs.

my fil's threw us a wonderful engaement party, which was lovle (even though I didn't want it... but that's another story!)
my parents are paying for my entire wedding... from begining to end- everything! they haven't offered a dime!

Wow, my FIL's are only paying for the rehearsal dinner. My FH and I are paying for everything else. My Dad passed away a while back so my Mom is a 'Single Mom'. We're paying for everything we are getting. It really makes us appreciate everything we've saved for. It's amazing how much you can save when you know you have to!!! I shoudl have started long ago!
