I've been engaged for just over a month and I am having the hardest time picking a reception hall! My fiance and I have been to 7 places so far and have found something we don't like at all of them except for one which we loved. How many places did you all visit before you found 'the one.' I think we found it but I'm afraid there is something else out there we're missing!

Re: New Bride
Hello.. congrats and welcome!!
FH and I visited about 14 places before we made our decision. We started off in the Bronx, hit a few places in Westchester, After doing more research we discovered there are so many places in LI. We saw a few and when I saw my RH (Swan Club) I knew it was the 1. I think you will prob find something you may dislike just about everywhere but I'm sure you will know the place is for you once you've found it. If you feel you need to see a few more just incase then go right ahead! Good luck.

Re: New Bride
Congrats and Welcome!!
FH and I visited about 7 halls before making our final decision. In our case we fell in love with the first hall, but wanted to make sure that it was 'the one'! After every hall we'd leave comparing it to the first one.. so we just knew!

Re: New Bride
FH and I visited 6 RHs - Thatched Cottage, Fox Hallow, Jericho Terrace, Chateau Le Mer, The Rivera and The Watermill. We stopped at 6, because I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to make up my mind. From 6, we got it down to 2, then 1. We picked the one that we loved the best overall. Our biggest decision was also price. Our RH was very willing to negotiate with us.
Where did you visit?

Re: New Bride
We've been to Woodbury country club, Swan club, Carlyle on the Green, Larkfield Manor, Crestwood Manor, Villa Lombardi's and Old Field Club. There were things we liked and didn't like about all of them. Pricing is also very important since we're paying for most of it ourselves. Right now Larkfield is at the top of the list. They gave us a great price and seem to have everything we're looking for.

Re: New Bride
Welcome & Congrats!!
FH and I looked at 10 different places and we ended up picking the 10th place! Definitely go see every RH that you are interested in, we thought that we found the place we wanted and then at the last minute decided to see the last one and absolutely fell in love with the place!! I would even go see places that you think might be out of your price range...I originally wanted a fall wedding but after seeing my RH and the price for a fall wedding we decided to move the wedding to the winter so we could afford it...I think its been the best decision we have made so far!!!

Congrats!!! You will definitely know when you pick the right one! You get like 'the feeling' - but I have to say, there are def a few minor things we didn't like about WM, but you have to take the good with the bad, ya know? FH and I said we wish we could take something from each place & make our own. Happy Planning!!!

Congrats and welcome!
I was so overwhelmed at first too! When we sat down to talk about the wedding, I realize that we had several words that kept popping up:
Something historic, from an older time Outdoor wedding location, indoor rain location Must be easily handicapped accessible, and of course Price...
We looked at 6 -7 different places and researched far more. Almost all of them had things we loved, meh and hated. Out of those we loved, they both had a few things we'd probably change, but nothing that was a deal breaker. We ultimately went for one that fit our image of our wedding while having good food.

Re: New Bride
We visited about 6 or 7, when we first looked at the Bourne Mansion we loved it but they didnt include as much as the other venues so we saw about 5 more, loved the Royalton but it was a little too expensive for us. We went back to Bourne and just loved it so we booked it. There were 1 or 2 things we wish we could change but other than that we love it. Dont worry you will find somewhere you love too!
