Hey guys! I'm new to the site and so happy to be here. I must admit I peeked in several times before becoming a member. I have so many questions but I will start slow.
First two: My FH and I never even heard of taking engagement photos until now. Why are they necessary? (sorry if I sound like such newbie!)
and...
Save the dates, are they important? my FMIL (is that even an acronym you guys use? lol it's future mother in law. lol ) does not want us to send them because she says everyone she knows who has sent them out ended up not going thru with the weddings. lol it sounds silly but shes killing us here. what should I do?
Okay brides thank you so much for hearing me out. Congrats on all your engagements =)

Re: New Bride-A GAZILLION questions! lol
hello!!!! and welcome I am using my engagement photos for a picture display at my wedding for guests to sign around and then i will display it in my house! I hope your mom is not right about the STD's bc i did them lol i did save the dates so no one will plan a vacation on my wedding date and since i have alot of out of town guests they can buy early plane tickets and make arrangements to be at my wedding!

Welcome and congrats!!
For the E-pics: Honestly I originally thought they were a waste of time. Why do I need a bunch of photos of myself. Wanna know what I thought that....Cause I HATE taking pics. So does my FH. This is EXACTLY why we did them. We needed to make sure that we were going to be comfortable with our photographers. That they weren't going to have us doing cheesey poses (which is not what we want for the wedding). I also wanted to make sure that I would like what they did, the quality. You only have one chance for photos for your wedding. I rather be out a deposit and switch photogs early on, then have my wedding photos be terrible.
As for STD's - They are a good option especially for OOT guests. It really gives them a heads up to start planning. We sent them to people we definately knew we would invite. We didn't send them to work collegues or what if's. We sent them about 8 months out from the wedding. It's totally up to you. You don't have to do them, but if you want them, go for it!
As for your 13 year old ring bearer. Why don't you just call him a junior groomsman and have one of his responsibilites be to carry the ring? This way he's doing the job you want him to do, and you don't get that 'huh?' look on peoples faces. Might make him feel like a man too?
Either way, your day...your way girl!

i just saw question 3 and yes i agree he kind of is alittle old but ultimately its your wedding and if thats what you want then do it but there are other roles he can do in your wedding...he can be a jr groomsman or even just an usher to help people to their seats or someone who hands out the programs but again its completely up to you!

I had never heard of engagement photos until my photographer threw it in the package for free. Otherwise I wouldn't have paid for them myself.

engagement photos are useful if you want to get to know your photography and if you want to use the pics for your Save the dates!!! I'm personally not doing either. i want to save money and splurge on making AWESOME invites.

Re: New Bride-A GAZILLION questions! lol
welcome!! congrats on your engagement!
We used our engagement pictures for our engagement party invites, and will be usinging them for our save the dates. And regarding the save the dates...I would send them out only because it gives people a heads up so that they can make arrangements. especially if it is a friday wedding or a lot of people are coming from out of town.
