New girl on the Block

Hey Ladies,

Just wanted to say Hi! This site looks like it is going to help me alot. I am planning the wedding for July 2004. I grew up on Long Island but now live out in Los Angeles, CA and will be flying back for the wedding and other things.

There seems to be tons of info on this site. Any suggestions on the best and worst of it? Any insider tips?

Look forward to talking with all of you. Thanks so much and Congrats to everyone.

Boy you guys are quick..LOL.

I am not sure where we are going to get married yet that will be the fun and stressful part.

Were going to have a theme weddings which will make for a really interesting day.

I think the reception place will be easier to find BUT we want to both get married outdoors (would have been one of the great advantages to gettting married in CA) and that seems to be harder to find on Long Island. Something with lots of flower possibly water....etc

Anyone have any ideas on outdoor ceremonies?

I planned our wedding from San Francisco - I know what you mean about all the CA options. Boy, I'd love to have another wedding here!

Happy Planning!

Wow so there are alot of us from California. That's awesome.

Thanks for the website. I have been an online junkie with all the different places and websites that are available. HOW AM I GOING TO SURVIVE NOW THAT I FOUND THIS FORUM...LOL

Flowerfield looks beautiful.

Yes, were on a budget. Thanks for asking I should have said that because I am a girl who loves a bargin...

I was thinking about looking for some halls to rent and maybe have outside catering done that might cut our costs alot?

Any thoughts?

Damn I have so many questions for everyone....

Actually, I thing that will cost more and considering you are getting married in July, they usually have deals for July and August! Also not having it on a Saturday night will really save you some money. How much were you thinking of spending per plate? You can FM if you don't want to say on the board.

I say check out the Riviera. I'm a July 2004 bride also.

Riviera

That's a good point (about how it might be more exspensive to have it catered). That's why we are having it on a Friday b/c we thought that would be cheaper.

Rivera looks BEAUTIFUL. I can't believe I have not checked out their website.

I am planning on going back to Long Island the first week in July and visit some places.

With you girls on my side helping me forget it I will be way ahead of the game...LOL

What do you gals think is a realistic amount to spend for the special day?

Just curious

If you are on a budget, anywhere from $55-80 for a Friday night. I think the Swan Club is around $60 for a Friday night. Did you check out their website - they have beautiful flowers.

Re: New girl on the Block

I think it all depends on how much $$ you have. There is no right or wrong. I have heard weddings costing 60,000 and i think its crazy, but that b/c i dont have it.
we are looking at about 25,000-27,000 at the riviera and getting married there ( which saves on limos and a few other things by doing that) and thast with the honeymoon

Re: New girl on the Block

Noel,

You're thinking like I am. Ideally I would love to have the reception and the ceremony at the same place. You probably save alot by doing that.

Rivera is being put on my list of must see it is BEAUTIFUL.

What is FM?

Thank you for all the warm welcomes. How do I keep up with this site. It seem like it moves so quickly.

Any tips?
