**New OFFICIAL West Indian Brides Thread**

Alright so I recently stumbled upon the old thread and noticed how long it was. Also most of the brides from it are gone so I figured we should start a new one!
So girls lets introduce ourselves.

I' m from Trinidad but came here when I was 8 mos. I've been back about 4 times.
FH is from Guyana, (figures right?)

We have been together for a long time and now that this wedding is happening, I am trying to plan the wedding of my dreams while still incorporating some of the good ol tradition, that the In laws want

Anyone else?

Hey, I'm from Trinidad; moved here when I was 6 years old. I've been back a few times but I don't think I can ever live there again; I love New York too much.

FH's parents are from India but he was born here. We've been together for 9 years for now; so this wedding everyone has been waiting for.

So far, we've incorporated many Indian traditions into our wedding but I'm trying to throw some West Indian culture in there as well.

i wish i could help you there. i am sure there are so many places that do it where i live..I will try to find one..But why dont you just get the boxes and then print labels of your mongram and stick it on? I'm sure it will end up costing you way less.

My FMIL is making the black cake and we are boxing it ourselves.

I feel you on the not living there thing. I never even liked going for vacations because we only got to go visit the old folks..all my young cousins were here already so thats why...but i def wanna go back to go with FH to Tobago one day.

As for the throwing in some west indian culture, i'm doing the black cake, and having steel drummers at the CH..and I'm sure we'll throw in some soca/calypso/reggae in there for the night.

Hi, and hello ladies! I was born in NY, but my parents are Jamaican (I call myself Jamerican ). FH is Trinidadian and came here when he was 8.

We wanted to get steel pans for the CH, but the RH doesn't allow them outside (It ***** that we found that out AFTER we booked )

My aunt made the black cake for my cousin's wedding, so just gonna ask her to do it for ours.

sorry i dont know any bakeries that make black cake...maybe you can try Sybils? Where do you live? they have a few of them in Queens.

My mom is making our black cake....i like the suggestion made about putting your monogram on the cake box instead of on the actual cake...i think it will be much cheaper too

Hi everyone, I was born and raised in St.Kitts and my Fh is Jamaican. 99% of our guests are Westindian so we are trying to include as much of our culture in our wedding as possibe. So far we are having steel pan for the ceremony, black cake, Westindian DJ, and a few Westindian dishes.
