Alright so I recently stumbled upon the old thread and noticed how long it was. Also most of the brides from it are gone so I figured we should start a new one! So girls lets introduce ourselves.
I' m from Trinidad but came here when I was 8 mos. I've been back about 4 times. FH is from Guyana, (figures right?)
We have been together for a long time and now that this wedding is happening, I am trying to plan the wedding of my dreams while still incorporating some of the good ol tradition, that the In laws want
Anyone else?

Hi Ladies!!
I am Jamaican born and raised!! FH is Jamaican but he cam here since he was 9 years old.
I am trying to incorporate a lot of West Indian culture in the wedding as I can, but I still want to keep it modern. So the in-laws better back off cause I am not too traditional!!
I am having steel pan as well and i'm getting a black cake for favors and ofcourse I am using a Jamaican DJ!!!

My name is Lana and I think I am the only Brooklyn West Indian bride on the boards.
And I actually have no West Indian vendors. Our DJ is Indian but thankfully he knows his West Indian music as well as he does the Indian music; I won't have to school him on the soca, reggae, and chutney music.

Hello ladies. I am Half Jamaican and half American (another Jamerican). FH is also American. With that said both his friends and my friends aka the wedding party are from almost every caribbean island you can imagine. Needless to say Reggea/calypso/soca will be heavily rotated along with those old school roots and culture tunes. We love hip hop/RnB too so we found a DJ who will find time for it all. I am also using a steel drum band provided by my RH.
