New Soon-To-Be-Bride :)

I've been lurking around here for the past few days doing some research, and trying to absorb as much as possible. You girls have been so helpful already (thank you!) so I've decieded to join right in!

A little backround info on me : My fiance and I have been together for a little over 5 years. Last summer he took me on a cruise and totally surprised me and proposed to me, but I was in no rush to get married at all..but all of a sudden my maternal clock is tickin and I want to get started with our life together. So about 2 weeks ago..we decieded to start making wedding plans. Our goal is sometime next summer. BTW - I HAVEN'T SLEPT IN 2 WEEKS!!!!! I can't say I wasn't warned about all the wedding crazieness..but I never thought it would be this crazy!!!

I am really blown away by all the things that need to be booked, all the money that needs to be saved/spent, and all the timelines for everything! My stress level is on Red alert! hehe

So far I have seen 3 RH (yea, I'm trying to learn the lingo around here so bear with me hehe)..Floral Terrace, VYC and Chateu La Mer...so far I'm LOVING Floral Terrace..I just had a really good feeling when I was there and my cousin had a beyond gorgeos wedding there a few years ago. But, we both want to see a few more places before chosing one. I really want to see Jericho Terrace. Originally I was set on having it by the water, but now I'm swaying away from it...

I just don't know where to go from there. I've done some research online and one thing leads to another and all of a sudden I've went from looking up a RH, to what I want my hair to look like and five hours later I find its 7:00AM and I'm still up looking at centerpieces!! lolz..Please tell me this is normal!

I've already found 'The Dress' I am so in love with it..so thats a good start right?? I tried it on and left a deposit already! Am I doing this too soon??

As for photography I am OBSESSED with what I've seen by Paul Thomas...I really want to go meet with him and would even change my wedding date in order to work with him. I hope he has some dates open! As a backup - I like Duets work too. Ugh..so many decisions!

Sorry this is so long..lolz..I guess I've been holding this in since I've started reading here hehe..I look foward to talking with all of you girlies!

Congrats! Slow down a little bit. Try looking into one thing at a time if you try it all at once it's a bit over whelming. ( and I thinkyou are way ahead of a lot of us summer 08 brides at this point )

Congrats!

I got engages a month ago and can completely understand what you are going through. I was driving myself crazy and got some help. Basically I was told that I need to find the place first so the date can be locked in. Then nind good music so it's not booked. After that, a good photographer/videographer. Next is time to relax a bit. There's really not a rush for your flowers. centerpieces, etc.
Good luck!

Oh, I did my dress somewhere in their too but you don't need to worry about that!

Hi, slow down and take a deep breath, you have time toooooo, just take it all in, one thing at a time. I would continue to check a few more places so you can both get a feeling for what is out there. Try Chateau Briand - our wedding was amazing there, try lands End, Jericho Terrace, Atlantis, this way you dont just say you love a place and not know what else is out there. Then when you decide on two or three, set up a tasting at each, they are so much fun and yu get to try there yummy food too, some like Chateau La Mer has one where you can bring an entire table of guests and they serve you family style with entertainment that night to boot. Also go look at the photographer you love first and by all means check out a few others, I used to be in that business and they all have so much to offer. Also check out all the girls reviews on brides review and that will give you a great insight as well. Then go see bands or DJ's, depending upon your taste. Make sure to ask the Rec Hall if you cake is included and what the gratuity is and what the minimum is. Also check out a few florists, all I can say is dont make any quick judgements, its such an exciting time for you both, and it seems overwhelming and it is, but just enjoy each step of the way and enjoy all that is out there, as each and every wedding is so unique & different.
Good Luck with all your planning and congratulations.....
