Ok ladies I am ready to book my honeymoon and there are so many posts I am going crazy with confusion.
For the ladies who have already gone to Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora.
What were your favorite hotels? How long do you recommend staying in each place? Where would you not go back to? Anything you wish you would have done?
Thank you.

Re: New Tahiti Thread
I haven't gone on my HM yet but I've done extensive research on Tahiti and Bora Bora. (read every book at B&N, Borders and spoke to about 10 different travel agents)
Intercontinental Tahiti is supposed to be the nicest resort in Tahiti. If you actually plan to spend some time in Tahiti, you should stay there. Sheraton Tahiti is a favorite for just a stopover.
In Bora Bora, St. Regis and Intercontinental Thalasso are the new resorts on the island. (just opened summer 2006) They are clean just because they are newer but there is a vast array of beautiful bungalow resorts on the island. You just can't go wrong with Bora Bora.

Re: New Tahiti Thread
I had very limited time due to FH's schedule but if I HAD the time, I would have gone to Tahiti (2 nights), Moorea (3 nights), Bora Bora (4 nights), and Private Island (3 nights).
I will share with you my research. (I may as well. I spent like fifty hours researching this!)
Bora Bora - St Regis (1st choice), Intercontinental Thalasso (2nd choice)
Private Island - Le Taha'a (supposed to be the best resort in the French Polynesia.)
My choices are by quality. Unfortunately they are in price order as well. The better places always cost the most.

We just booked two days ago and you can definitely get quotes less than 10,000. I tried pacific.for.les.com, tahitianvaction.com and tahititravelmate.com. All were lower than 10,000. But when we went to Liberty Travel they gave us the best deal. We are staying at the pearl on Moorea and Bora Bora and 5 nights in aoverwater bungalow for less than 9000. FM if you want more details.

Re: New Tahiti Thread
Hi! We went to Tahiti/Moorea/Bora Bora in June (LINK to my review) so my answers are based on experience.
What were your favorite hotels? We LOVED the pearl resorts on moorea and bora bora! We highly recommend these hotels, they were top notch for a great price!!
How long do you recommend staying in each place? We stayed 1 night tahiti (wouldn't stay longer), 4 nights moorea and 5 nights bora bora. This was the perfect itinerary for us!
Where would you not go back to? I would recommend going to both moorea and bora bora... beautiful in their own ways!
Anything you wish you would have done? I wish we could have done the jet ski excursion on bora bora! There was an oil strike while we were there so we couldn't do it and finally on the last day the strike was over, but it rained. Other than that, we did everything we wanted to do!!!

Re: New Tahiti Thread
I went to Tahiti in August. Because of a mess up at my hotel in Moorea , (the Sofitel which was not opened) we really got to see the island and managed to stay at 2 hotels there.
Tahiti -- 1 night when we first got there.. Sofitel..
Moorea--1 night at the Pearl.. I would not recommend it.. Nothing special. Actually the first night we were in Moorea we stayed there in a garden bungalow and we were extremly disappointed. We did not expect that.
The next day we headed to our hotel where we would be staying the ramaining 4 nights.. Intercontinental.. OMG this place was gorgeous.. We stayed in an OWB room 501 right next to the Dolphin Encounter it was gorgeous.. The hotel, the room, the beach, the restaurants, everything I HIGHLY reccommend this place.
We then went to Bora Bora for 5 nights and stayed at the sofitel in an OWB the last one out on the lagoon. Total privacy and seclusion. Gorgeous. But I still love Moorea.
Came back to Tahiti for 2 nights. Rented a car and drove around..

Re: New Tahiti Thread
Our Itinerary
1 night IC Tahiti- I wouldnt recommend any more than 1 night. the resort was gorgeous a lot better than we expected, but nothing much to do there
4 nights Moorea - Pearl Beach Resort- Private Garden Bungalow - GORGEOUS. Loved everything about this place. we toured the entire island, visited other resorts, and we went on the jeep safari tour which was amazing- got some vanilla, some ananas (pineapple) and great pics of outstanding views. Also, got my gorgeous Pearl and diamond necklace!! We loved alto pizza and Alfredos- yum.
5 nights Bora Bora - IC Thalasso Spa - UNBELIEVABLE. 5 star resort, highly recommended. DH and i were treated like kings and queens. we woke up to the sunrise every morning. we were basically in heaven. we stayed in an emerald bungalow. gorgeous. the room was bigger than my 2 bedroom apt! Had spacious living room, large closet, bathroom and bedroom. 2 balconies!!! Amazing. Don't forget to go to bloody mary's.
And, if i can recommend anything- fly direct!

Re: New Tahiti Thread
I got back from my tahiti trip about 2 weeks ago..this was our itinerary...
2 nights @ Radisson Tahiti (1 night on the way there and 1 night on the way back): We had the jacuzzi king room. The hotel is pretty nice..about a $20 cab ride to downtown Papeete if you wanted to go shopping.
3 nights @ Pearl Beach Moorea: We originally booked the garden bungalow with the plunge pool but was upgraded to a premium OWB when we got there. It was room 417 (all the way at the end of the right side of the pier). The resort was very nice. The rooms were a good size with a huge deck. There was great snorkeling right off our bungalow. There was a small town within a 5 min walking distance with a small cafe (Carameline's) that served pretty good food. This was a good alternative to the pricey hotel food.
4 nights @ Intercontinental Thalasso Bora Bora: We had a emerald OWB. This was perhaps our favorite resort of the entire trip(even more than Taha'a..read below). When we booked, the resort was offering free breakfast and dinner which saved us a ton. The bungalows are HUGE and beautiful. Just be aware that its a pretty far walk from any bungalow to the pool/restaurant..we were one of the closest to the beach so I can only imagine the walk from any of the sapphire or diamond OWB.
3 nights @ Le Taha'a: We had the Taha'a view OWB, great view (I wouldn't spend the extra money for the other views). I have to admit that after reading all the reviews on this resort from tripadvisor.com and tahitiexplorer.com I was expecting alot more than we got. Perhaps it was because we went to Thalasso first...but we were slightly disappointed. The rooms were great..but it paled in comparison to the one bedroom apartment we had in Bora Bora. The pool area was also alot smaller. Perhaps the only thing that this resort had over the Thalasso was the snorkelling. They have a coral garden slightly off the property that was really nice. Over all it was a nice resort, but if I had to do the trip over again, I'd probably go to Taha'a right after Moorea and then Bora Bora last.
FM me if you have any other questions...
