new to this

I'm recently engaged (Oct. 14) and new to the site. My friend was on here when she was getting married and loved it! I don't even know where to begin with the planning. I think we have to have a wedding in the winter since it's the most affordable. Anyone have suggestions for pretty venues for winter weddings?

Thanks

Welcome!

Do you have a guest list size in mind?

Time of day?

Feel of the venue that you are looking for?

Hi,

I made my list up right away, but my fiance has not. I'm thinking we will have just under 200 people. I think we will have to shorten that list though.

We both want an evening wedding. We also need a place that we can have the ceremony at.

Guest list size is a huge component in finding a place!

I think that a lot of the favorite places on these boards have ceremony locations as well.

The Inn at NHP and Fox Hollow are beautiful in the winter.

Secondly, ITA! Also check out Swan Club, Westbury Manor, and Jericho Terrace! I got married at JT and looooooooooooooved it. Absolutely head over heels in love with it!

I'd definitely take a peek at the list of reception halls listed on this site and start making note of things you want and don't want- 1 wedding at a time, outdoor cocktail hour space, etc. It can be overwhelming so just take it slow! Good luck and happy planning!

Budget and guest list and two most important components!! Figure out how many people so you know how big of a venue you need and then who is paying for what!! Then you will know which venues to visit and which are in your price range!! Milleridge Cottage and Westbury Manor are beautiful in the winter!!

Thank you all so much! First, for making me feel so welcome and for the suggestions. I will definitely check these places out. I think we will make the complete guest list this weekend. What is ITA? I'm trying to get it all down, but not sure what that is. Again, I really appreciate it.

I'm so glad they have these sites to turn to!
