Hi all, You have all been so helpful with all my numerous requests that I'm hoping I get feedback on this topic too. Let me start by saying that by seeing some of your profiles you are all slim, beautiful young ladies. I, on the other hand, can stand to loose a few pounds. DON'T GET ME WRONG. I am very self-confident and to everyone who surrounds me I am beautiful Weight has never been an issue BUT for health reasons and OF COURSE to look good in my dress I want to loose some pounds. (like 15 lbs)
My question- My company is sponsoring a Weight Watchers program for a really good price and I was thinking about doint it. Has anyone seen results with this and is it worth it?? Iknow the best way is eating healthy and excercising (which I will begin doing soon) but the offer is so tempting!!!! What do you think??

Re: New topic. Diet!!
I think WW has been very successful for many people. My mom's friend lost a ton of weight on it. I say go for it. I have heard that it is the only diet that really works because you can eat what you want as long as it is in your point range. Good Luck!! Let us know how you are doing!

Re: New topic. Diet!!
I started WW 3 weeks ago and I have lost about 7 pounds. I do it online and I find it very easy, and helpful. After my sister had her 2nd baby she went on it and lost 25 pounds. Also, my mom and grandma are on it and have each lost about 10 pounds. I highly recommend it, doing WW and maybe a little exercise you should have no problem. Good luck!!

Re: New topic. Diet!!
My aunt lost 65 lbs. in just over a year. It does work, and If I had the will power, and self control, I would definately do it. I would like to loose 15-20 lbs. and I know that I should start to try, but I can't seem to get a handle on it. Especially with all of the stress of the wedding, I could never count points. I quit smoking in December to keep a promise that I made to FH and have gained about 10 lbs since then.
I have no doubt that WW does work though. My aunt looks better than she ever has.
By the way, I tried trimspa (aka the esay way out) a few months ago and it did not work.

I think WW really does work as long as you try to eat healthy with it. I have seen people lose alot of weight with it. On the other hand I have a friend who is doing it but she hasn't had great result because she doesn't make healthy choices. She will have pudding for breakfast instead of eggs white but justify that they are the same points value. I am sure if you are determined you will succeed. Good Luck and if you do decide to do it report your success to us (and turn to us on the days you want to cheat we'll keep you motivated)

Re: New topic. Diet!! Long!!!!
I have lost weight just giving up simple carbs. Ex. White rice, white bread and pasta, and sugar. Also drink only water with your meals. If you drink juice or soda then your body will use that and then store your unused calories and even convert your carbs to fat. I eat only whole grains and limit by sugar and bad fats. I read a book called Eat more, weigh less and he also says to limit your fat to 20 grams a day. Kind of hard since 2 boiled eggs have 12 grams there. I lost a few pounds relatively quick by just doing that. I ride my stationary bike probaly 2 times a week for 20 minutes while I am on the phone- have to be productive. Sorry so long. The prob with weight watches is that after you loose the weight you are still eating the same. Need to make changes for long term success. Do both. Good Luck!

Re: New topic. Diet!! Long!!!!
I do WW online. Started in Feb and have lost 28 pounds. For me it's the only thing that has worked and I wish I did this before the wedding b/c I tried so hard but really didn't lose anything for my wedding. In my opionion WW gives you the right tools and is the healthy way to lose weight. It's not a diet, it's a way of life -- something you will have to stick to forever. Also be realistic in your time and how much you want to lose. The safe rate is 1-2 pounds per week -- and there are some where you wont lost at all. So check it out and good luck to you! Obviously you have the motivation -- so just go for it!

Re: New topic. Diet!!
Curly, I got advise from some of the ladies on this board to try WW when I asked about a good way to lose weight. First I tried a fad diet and lost nothing. Then I finally went last week to WW and lost 2 1/2 pounds the first week. My wedding is only 8 weeks away, but I am trying to lose 10 lbs by then and I think it can be done on this program. I am not hungry on it and believe me I LOVE to eat. Good luck with it, if I can do it, anybody can

I agree with the other girls. I lost 15lbs on WW. I gained a few of those back but that is my own fault b/c I stoppped doing it. I started again about a month ago and I already nothice a difference in the way my clothes fit (especially my dress). I think you should do it.

Re: New topic. Diet!!
I have been toying w. the idea of doing WW online, but was not sure if it worked as well as meetings. How hard is it to keep track of everything that you eat? I get lunch out about 3x week, and am not sure how I would convert that into points.

Re: New topic. Diet!!
I have been on Trim Spa since January. I've lost 19 pounds and I've really changed the way I eat. This is not a fat burner, it just curves your appetite. I went on for 3 months, then went off it for a month and then back on for 3 and off for 2.
It didn't make my heart race or anything (no caffeine and no ephra).
They have a website and you can answer some questions and they will pick the best product for you.
Hope this helps

WW Online
Doing WW online is pretty easy. That actually have a pretty big database of foods. You may want to limit your eatting out though -- since it's hard to know what's in your food. But try to just limit how much of it you eat. When the food comes automatically half it and take at least that half home. The database has fast food places and sometimes will just have things like 'Take Out Chinese' and will give you and idea of what you can eat. There is also a dining out guide.

Re: New topic. Diet!!
I have been on WW since I got engaged in the early spring, in 5 months (approx) I have lost 20 pounds. I want to lose another 20. I happen to follow it online and I have other friends that are on it, and we support each other. We have girls nites where one of us cooks a diet friendly meal that fits into our points, we walk, and drink lots and lots of water. I am going away on a cruise next week, and am not concerned at all of gaining weight in these months I have learned portion control, and if I have a craving, I just give in and after about 2 bites I have had enough. I guess it is will power and the thought of looking exceptionally well on the wedding day. Good luck!

Re: New topic. Diet!!
I knew I could count on you girls for feedback. Thanks so much for all the responses. I think I'm gonna do it. I'll keep you posted
the good thing about weight watchers (I lost 17 # years ago on it) is that it teaches you to CHANGE your eating habits...A diet will only work for as long as you do it, WW really teaches you to make eating healthy a way of life...not: eat our prepackaged high sodium meals...instead: here are some recipes to make smart, healthy foods and enjoy them for years to come...
the one thing about WW that I found...is you need a good leader...there is a FABULOUS man in Forest Hills...Anthony on Wednesday nights...he made all the difference when I was on it...
it also helps to join with friends to keep you motivated...don't miss meetings...they are more valuable than you can imagine...
good luck...

Re: New topic. Diet!!
I have posted about this before, but since you asked... I agree with the ladies who recommended WW. I lost 30 lbs in about 6 mos and have kept it off for 10 mos. The key to WW, (IMO) is that it is not a diet - it is a way to help you change your eating habits for life, not just a few weeks. I now work for them as a receptionist, and I can tell you that I have seen many, many people succeed on the program. My own grandmother, who was always overweight joined when she was in her 70's and has lost about 75 lbs and kept it off! If she could succeed we all can! Good luck and if you (or anyone) has any program questions feel free to ask!

Re: New topic. Diet!!
Katebug is right, it is a way of life and I think once you are on it for a while you learn what you can eat and how much. After a while it starts to just be normal to eat only certain things or only eating a smaller amount of something that you love.

Re: New topic. Diet!!
I hate to be the one who disagrees with the majority, but i have to say that ww did nothing for me... i was 200lbs.. and tried ww so many times.. i really had a hectic schedule and couldnt always count those points and just couldnt always make it to the meetings.. I went to a nutritionist, my ins. paid for it..and i lost 70lbs..Im not an excersizer so it was all my eating habits that changed,,. i never use oil to cook.. i use land o lakes low fat butter (it tastes the same) i dont eat anything white.. i stay away from pasta (but i eat bread) i dont eat red meat, except for 1 a week, i stay away from sugary drinks, and i dont eat chips...its just a lifestyle change...Also i bought he forman grill and it has really SAVED my life.. i cook everything on it..

Re: New topic. Diet!!
I lost 25 lbs on WW in about 5 months. It works. I did not stick to the points completely but I have to agree it works if you make it a life style change. I also exercise at leats 3 to 5 times a week. I use the walk away the pounds videos. They sound cheesy but they are easy to follow not to many complicated steps and they work no matter how fit you are. I find now even though I am not keeping track of my points as much I still look at how much fat and calories are in everyting I buy and eat. I buy everything with no or very little fat and I started to drink diet soda (people don't realize how many calories and sugar are in a can of soda). At this point I am just maintaining my weight, which I have been successful at for 3 months, at the fear that my dress will nead major alterations due to my weight loss. Best wishes.
