Newbie

How exciting! Congrats!

I would come up with an estimate of a budget then a rough draft of a guest list. Then start by searching for your reception hall and church if u are getting married in one.

Your number one job right now is to CELEBRATE! You won't ever have this moment again. When people ask, 'when is the big day?' respond with, 'Oh, we don't know yet, we are just so excited to be engaged!'

Wait 2 weeks then start planning. :)

Congrats! I went dress shopping that week! And I think we had our venue within a month. But, we had less than a year to go. I agree with the bride who said wait 2 weeks, so you can enjoy it. Don't start stressing yet.

Congrats!!!!!

For now just enjoy it!! And start thinking about your guest list and possible places you'd like to get married at and have the reception.

Yes!! People were asking like two days later when the date was. I didn't know where to start either!!

Just like everyone says... pick a guest number, the type of venue you want, and go take a look! It will feel amazing when pick one! Don't worry, the one you want will be there when you are ready to book

Re: Newbie

Thank you girls all so much. As for the date, to sign up I had to put a date so I just picked anything. We could very well get married 2012! haha... we shall see and I agree with the gil who said wait 2 wks and then start planning. We just saw some friends tonight and asked a few of them to be in te wedding. but we are not going to start 'searching' for anything just yet. 2 weeks of enjoying this bliss sounds great to me!!

Congrats! I think taking a couple weeks to enjoy the engagement is a great idea. When you're ready to start planning, we'd recommend making a rough budget first. Let us know if you have any questions!

Congrats! FH and I got engaged 12/10 and didn't start planning until 6/11, but that doesn't mean you have to wait that long. The first thing you want to do is sit down and discuss how many guests, the style and theme and budget. You can start researching RH's and make appt's, some even let you taste food when you visit!

Re: Newbie

welcome and congrats!

even if you are expecting to have a long engagement you can still start planing now.
We have a long engagement but I booked a lo of things early and now a lot of the prices have gone up but I signed on the lower prices.

Making a budget is defiantly the first place to start.

good luck and Happy Planing!
