Newbie here

Original post by RitaJKim

Hi, my name is Rita and this place was recommended by JennRenee, whom I know from elsewhere on the net, and even share the same OB. I live in Eastern Queens and have been married for 5 years. We have a 2.5 yo son, Lucas, and am 24 weeks pregnant with a daughter.

I'm a very high risk pregnancy, am GD on insulin (was with my son, too), have a uterine deformity that puts me at a great risk for premature birth. I had a cerclage placed at 20 weeks and went into perterm labor, spending a week in the hospital. I'm home on modified bedrest now, and hoping to get this little one as far into the third trimester as possible. My son was a 36 weeker, and we were amazed I carried him that long.

And, if my obstetrical history is not enough, I found out I was pregnant on August 3rd!!!!! This little girlie is a PILL baby, and I continued to get periods and take the pill for about 3 months into the pregnancy. My first OB visit the u/s dated us at 18 weeks. I had my amnio the next day, and the level 2 u/s the day after that. It's been an interesting 6 weeks, huh?????

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Rita

Re: Newbie here

Hi Rita,
Only one person (my paternal grandmother) had adult-onset Type II diabetes and my weight was normal pre-pregnancy and during the pregnancy actually but I picked the lucky card I guess...I do see a specialist but in Suffolk County since I live in Ronkonkoma. It has been only about 10 days so far, but only since Saturday on Insilin. They are in the middle of trying to regulate my sugar levels right now. Any breakfast tips would be greatly appreciated since I can only have 15 grams of carbs and 1 protein. I don't like eggs everyday. I do find that the light bread lets me have 2 pieces of toast but that gets boring too! I did a frozen waffle for breaksfast and 1 oz. of low-fat cheese.

I actually find the timing of everything really difficult, but hopefully that will get easier as the weeks go on.

Thanks for the supportive words. My baby has been healthy and that is the most important thing, of course.

I am sorry to hear about your 1st child- That must have been awful and still difficult. I wish you a happy, healthy pregnancy this time.

If youre a SAHM, my sister has a moms club chapter going in Queens. Theyre official website is momsclub.org. They have chapters all over the world (im part of a chapter out here in Suffolk).
