Newbie here! How hard would it be for me to have a summer 05 wedding? Is everything booked?

Original post by amy&anthony

I just got engaged 12/24! My fiance wants to get married next week LOL but I told him we can get married before the next school year starts. I would really like to get married late June - Lat August. Any ideas if I can still book a place? Is it too late?

So far from the websites I like:
East Wind
Chateau La Mer
Araina Waterfall
Chateu Briand
Crest Hollow

Does anyone know how much pp it would be? Which is the most expensive, which is the least?

Im looking for a place that has a good package deal... Im lazy LOL Im hoping not to spend more than $15,000 on a wedding. Is that possible here on Long Island?

Thanks in advance girls!!
BTW - Heres some pics of my son & I and my soon to be husband! YAY!!!!
BTW - we met on match.com!!!!!!!!!! :)

East WInd COuntry Gardens can accomodate about 125 comfortably

Searching online Ive narrowed it down to 3 places

Watermill
Chateau La Mer
Jericho Terrace.

I think I really like the Terrace, but Im concerned - if its a summer wedding during daytime hours wont the skylights be horrible??

What do you all think of daytime weddings ending at 5:00? Seems thats all any of them have left :(

If your Wedding ends at 5pm you can have an after party
By the way you look like Babe on All My Children

Do I have to pay for the after party too? Any ideas for an after party?

An after party can be anything you would like it to be
Wether it be going to a local bar,or a party at your place or parents,or maybe something at the hotel you may be staying at

Just wanted to say welcome and congratulations on your engagement

You make a beautiful family!

I was engaged in December '03 and married by July '04, so it definitely IS possible to plan a wedding in about 6-7 months on LI (and I knew NOTHING about LI)

The girls here are wonderful and helpful, so feel free to ask away

Good Luck

I got engaged 12/20/03 and on 12/29 booked Chateau Briand for 6/12/04. It was the only Saturday night left due to a canceled wedding, but they did have some summer Fridays and Sundays available (obviously, this is last year but just to give you an idea). Many other places we saw had summer dates left and actually, the prices were cheaper than they would have been if you had booked earlier. Chateau Briand is amazing. Good luck.

I wanted to comment on a few things mentioned here. I lived right near Ariana Waterfall before I was married. The neighborhood is fine- don't worry about that. It is on a busy street with a lot of stores around it, so some people may not like that, but it is NOT a bad neighborhood.

Second, one of our friends got engaged in Jan. and married in April. Her husband said they got some fantastic deals because of what someone else mentioned. If the date isn't booked by a few months before, the hall and other vendors may offer a good deal just to book the date.

Finally, when we went to pay the balance to the hall, we got into a conversation with a Matre'd about what the 'deals' were. He told us that Mother's Day and Father's Day are days that people generally don't want to book, so they can often get a great price, because the hall doesn't ususally get as much interest for those weekends.

Good luck!

I'm getting married at the Watermill on Monday, July 4th and got a low minimum and a great deal. I'm paying way less than half of what the July 2 Sat. night bride is paying (sorry) because:

1. I was willing to get married on a holiday Monday

2. 11 am, I'm not competing with any church brides

I've also heard that one of the cheapest days in the whole calendar is Superbowl Sunday. Not many brides want to book that day because they are afraid all of the guys will want to watch the game but if you had a daytime wedding it's over by then.

Welcome and congratulations Amy!

Our wedding is at Chateau La Mer in July 2005. How many people are you thinking of having? We guaranteed 200 people and are paying $88 pp (after tax&grat).

We're thrilled with CLM so far. Everyone has been wonderful to work with!

Swan Club is pretty reasonably priced, but, to my knowledge, doesn't offer packages.

Coral House was rather inexpensive and includes centerpieces. I don't like the street or the parking (lot is across the street and has a cheesy marquis). They do have an outfoor area.

Sans Souci is very reasonable from what I've heard.

We considered New Jersey when we were scouting halls. I found the most stunning place. The Tides Estate is in North Haledon, NJ (about a 15 minute drive from the GWB). They offer deeply discounted rates for canceled dates. You can go to their website and click Special Pricing. That section lists the canceled dates available for the reduced rate. They have gorgeous outdoor areas and stunning indoor photo opportunities. The way I'm raving, you'd think I booked them!

Ultimately, we chose Woodbury Country Club. We're getting married there and after we took one look at the outdoor ceremony site, we knew it was where we'd exchange our vows.

Congratulations and best of luck!

Incidentally, I got engaged at the end of September and we're getting married in early July. You can plan your wedding in the time you're allotting.

Congrats Amy and welcome. I met DH almost 3 years ago (Feb. 10, 2002) - through match.com too! We got engaged Feb 14, 2004 and married Aug. 29, 2004. No problem there, you have plenty of time especially if you are not going to ponder each and every minute decision you have to make. Do what you want and move on to the next task.

We got a great deal on our reception because if a place or vendor is not booked 6 months from now, they don't expect they will be - so any job or fee is better than none.

Best of luck to you!!

First, Congratulations!!
Chateau La Mer is definitely a great place if you are on a budget. You get so much for the price. If you are looking for a big package deal, check out Windows on the Lake in Lake Ronkonkoma. They are reasonable as well and they offer a deal when you use all their vendors. Hope this helps.

I am getting married at the Chateau Briand on 8/20. So it is booked for the afternoon. But it may still be available for the evening. The price for a Fri or Sat was $150 a head for evening though. Good Luck
